Warning! This article may contain spoilers for High Potential and HPI.the American version stars Kaitlin Olson as a single mother named Morgan who does maintenance work before demonstrating a knack for crime-solving that compels the LAPD to work with her. Because the two shows are so closely related, HPI is in many ways the perfect replacement for High Potential – which, as of writing, is on a mini hiatus. However, because the stories are so closely connected, HPI could inadvertently spoil High Potential for some viewers.
As a crime series, preserving an air of mystery is vital for High Potential's future success. However, given that the original series has already covered some of the same ground, there's a chance that viewers could accidentally spoil the story for themselves. This is especially true where Morgan and Detective Karadec are concerned, as their will-they-won't-they dynamic is the story's beating heart.
High Potential's Best Replacement Show Is HPI
HPI And High Potential Both Have Intriguing Protagonists
HPI and High Potential share a premise and narrative. The French-Belgian crime comedy show stars Audrey Fleurot as Morgane, a housekeeper with three children and a couple of ex-husbands. When Morgane finds pivotal clues to a murder case, she works with the French police to solve the murder. In return, the police help Morgane reopen the case regarding her missing husband.
Morgan in High Potential and Morgane in HPI are similar because they tend to break the rules, dress casually, have a sense of humor, and are extremely intelligent. Each female protagonist also has a dynamic partnership with Detective Karadec, who initially disapproves of having an outsider with no police experience solving crimes. However, Karadec gets used to her because of her sharp and bright mind. Karadec's by-the-book approach and Morgan/Morgane's unusual methods for crime-solving sum up their odd couple partnership.

High Potential: Morgan & Karadec's Possible Romance Gets Surprising Response From Star: "They Don't Need To Rush To Any Conclusions"
EXCLUSIVE: High Potential’s Daniel Sunjata addresses a possible romance between his character, Detective Adam Karadec, and Morgan Gillory.
Despite several similarities between the protagonists and storylines, Morgane in HPI is more over-the-top and extravagant in her demeanor, whereas Morgan in High Potential is quirky but more grounded due to her responsibilities as a caring mother and a sympathetic crime solver. Morgan also has more emotionally vulnerable scenes when confronting victims who have lost a loved one or when she has important conversations with her daughter Ava. Nonetheless, HPI is a good replacement show to see that version of the protagonist and how Morgane has a slightly more unorthodox approach to her character and casework.
How HPI Could Spoil If Morgan & Karadec Will Get Together
HPI May Foreshadow What Happens In High Potential
While HPI is worth watching for fans of High Potential, it is worth noting that HPI is still currently broadcasting and involves a romantic relationship between Morgane and Karadec. This raises the obvious question of whether Morgan and Karadec will become romantically involved in the ABC series. Anyone familiar with HPI will undoubtedly assume that High Potential will follow a similar structure, with the original show potentially spoiling what happens next on the ABC series.
...the fact that High Potential has such an obvious template to follow means that any mystery around the couple is essentially moot.
It's possible that producers of High Potential may mix things up a bit so that a potential relationship between Morgan and Karadec isn't as predictable as many may assume. The break before the next episode of High Potential also raises questions about how a relationship between Morgan and Karadec is even possible, given that Karadec was initially hesitant to work with her, and Morgan continues to balance work with family time and raising three children. Nevertheless, the fact that High Potential has such an obvious template to follow means that any mystery around the couple is essentially moot.
When High Potential Will Return With New Episodes
High Potential Fans Eager To See Morgan And Karadec Together
High Potential's next episode airs on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET. According to the showrunner, the plan is to slowly build up the bond between Morgan and Karadec so that any possible romantic relationship doesn't feel rushed. There are also considerations, such as Morgan's encounter with Tom after their hostage situation in episode 7, "One of Us," as well as how Morgan's children would feel about their mom going out with another man after two ex-husbands (one of which she is still searching for years after his disappearance). Whatever direction the show takes, viewers can look to HPI for some possible High Potential story clues.

Morgan, a single mother of three with a brilliant but unconventional mind, partners with a methodical detective after solving a crime during her job as a cleaner. Together, they form an unlikely but effective duo, blending her unique problem-solving skills with his by-the-book approach to tackle challenging cases.
