Dwayne Johnson shares the first image of him and Jason Statham filming Hobbs & Shaw. The Fast & Furious franchise has grown immensely from it's street racing origins. The adventures of the skilled drivers grew over time, but it was with the introduction of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as Hobbs in Fast Five that the franchise grew to become what it is now known for. Hobbs was originally an antagonist but has now become another hero in the franchise, an arc that they're looking to replicate somehow with Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw - the man responsible for killing Han. However, he's come to the aid of the leads recently and is getting a brighter future because of it.
Johnson and Statham are starring in the first ever Fast & Furious spinoff (Tokyo Drift wasn't necessarily a spinoff, since it had entirely new characters), which is being directed by Deadpool 2's David Leitch. Production began a few weeks back with an image of Leitch and Statham on set making its way online. Johnson was not present due to his busy schedule filming Disney's Jungle Cruise, but he's now on set and sharing images of his own.

Johnson shared a brand new image from Hobbs & Shaw on his social media s today that feature the leading men standing on opposite sides of a table, staring intensely at each other. The files next to their fists are surely for the mission they are about to embark on, and Johnson doesn't make it sound like the partnership will be an easy one with part of the caption reading, "F*** getting along."
Johnson’s arrival on set of Hobbs & Shaw comes as production is kicking into high gear. With so few confirmed details on the spinoff, most fans of the franchise are most intrigued to see how the two macho men interact. Although they've been friendly at times, there is a built in rivalry between them and Johnson's tease makes it sound like that will continue the next time we see them.
Hobbs & Shaw already has a release date set for next year, but, even though Johnson and Statham are the only ones we've seen filming, they are far from the only cast . Mission: Impossible - Fallout breakout star Idris Elba has ed the franchise as the film's villain. Hopefully, Johnson continues to share more details and looks at the movie as production continues as he usually does, eventually shedding some light on these new additions. Either way, Hobbs & Shaw is moving fast and looks to have a great ensemble lined up.
