The Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit & Mod Manager are both here, and players can now use them to modify the game to their liking. It is a new way for players to interact with the PC version of the game, and one that should excite anyone who likes to create their own content. There is plenty to see and do, and players who don’t want to create will have access to the library to use other mods for themselves.

Now that modding is an official part of Hogwarts Legacy, there are new options. Previously, people were making less official mods, but it seemed like it didn’t get quite the popularity other games have. However, that doesn’t mean they didn’t exist. Most games have mods of some kind these days, and that was no less true for this one. One popular one was a Companion Mod that changed how the NPCs interacted with you, as well as one that allowed players to duel anyone they wanted.

How Hogwarts Legacy’s Creator Kit Works For Modding

A Streamlined Process That Everyone Can Use

The official Creator Kit is run by CurseForge, and it allows players to do quite a lot in of creating their own quests, locations, and characters. The Creator Kit is a simplified version of the Unreal Engine 4 Editor. It can be found in the Epic Game Store for free, and it opens up a fairly broad range of things for players to do. All players have to do is the link from the store to start their modding journey.

What To Expect From Creator Kit Mods

The Limit & How Far Players Can Push It

While the full effects will not be seen for some time, there is already reason to expect that the Creator Kit Mods will change how players interact with the game. Mods do that at a basic level anyway, but with the ease of integration, it looks like more and more players will be doing so. The peeks from the trailer revealed a lot of possibilities on their own, but that was just what a small team of people worked on, now there are many more people trying.

The mods do go through an approval process before they will appear in the in-game library for any PC player to explore. There are a few customization mods available pre-release, but more and more are going to . The official Discord also allows players to interact with CurseForge and each other, potentially working together to create even bigger and better things.

Of interest, the mods will be kickstarted by a contest that began on January 30th when the update went live. It is the Goblet of Mods Contest, and players will get to compete to create a mod that will wow people. There are monetary prizes for these mods including:

  • Worldbuilding Mods: $5000 for 5 Winners
  • Cosmetic Mods: $2500 for 15 Winners
  • Weekly Winners: $500 for 60 Winners
  • Community Favorites: $2500 for 3 Winners

If a player is interested in entering the contest, they just have to start creating within the Creator Kit, submit their mods, and fill out this registration form so that any mods they create are now eligible to win. This will create some incentive and some friendly competition to see who can make the best mods for Hogwarts Legacy.

10 Features Hogwarts Legacy 2 Needs To Leave Behind

Hogwarts Legacy was a great game, but it had a lot of bad gameplay mechanics that the sequel absolutely need to leave behind in order to succeed.

Right now, while the current options for modding are already fairly extensive, the developers have announced more options will be added later. This opens up possibilities to change a lot more within the game. It will be interesting to see what players come up with, but if the past mods are to be taken into , it seems players will likely want to affect the companions in Hogwarts Legacy as well as the behavior protocols, such as being able to duel anyone, anytime.

While the sky isn’t quite the limit just yet, it kind of is as one of the main draws seems to be the ability to change a broom or a flying companion into a dragon. Being able to truly test combat with never-ending dungeons also seems like a fun possibility. All of the options currently available from the Creator Kit can be found in the game’s menu in the PC version of Hogwarts Legacy.
