Summary
- No DLC or additional content has been announced for Hogwarts Legacy, but new features will be added in the summer of 2024.
- A glitch in the game allowed a player to cast spells while flying on a broom, highlighting the absence of this feature in the base game.
- Fans have been disappointed by the lack of Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy, and it is unclear if it will be added in the future.
Although new features will be added to the game in the summer of 2024, including the PlayStation-exclusive quest being added to other console and PC editions of Hogwarts Legacy.
Whether the new features will include actual DLC is still yet to be determined. Either way, with DLC or just added content, it isn't known if Quidditch will be one of the touted features that is coming. The immersive and detailed game, set in the world of Harry Potter, already has many incredible quests and experiences that muggles can enjoy while playing as a witch or wizard in the 1800s, but as it stands right now, it does feel as though broom flying could have been a bit more fantastical with some extra abilities that were left out of the game.

Hogwarts Legacy Review: A Living, Breathing, Wizarding World
Hogwarts Legacy beautifully recreates the world of Harry Potter and fills it with quirky characters, tense combat, and a huge amount of collectibles.
One Player's Glitch Shows Off How Much Cooler Flying Could Be
One of the most notable missing features that would make broom flying cooler was recently made even more obvious when a now-deleted Reddit experienced a strange glitch in the game. This bug in the game allowed their character to continue flying on their broom while being able to cast spells to attack nearby poachers. Though it was clearly a glitch that caused issues with the situation, such as nearly constant warnings about not being able to land and other popups, seeing a young Hogwarts student flying on a broom and casting spells feels like something that should be a real part of the game.
In the wizarding world, it is entirely natural to use spells while flying on a broom. This omission from Hogwarts Legacy makes sense in some ways because of the amount of programming that it would require, and simply to keep players from getting overwhelmed with game mechanics for both flying and casting spells meshed together. That said, seeing this glitch that allowed for flying and casting spells simultaneously is not only cool but feels correct for the game in a way that makes it sad to realize it is not permitted.
It Is The Perfect Time For A Hogwarts Legacy Quidditch DLC
Adding to that is the obvious missing component in Hogwarts Legacy: Quidditch. Since the launch of Hogwarts Legacy in February 2023, students at Hogwarts have been sad to hear that Heaster Black canceled Quidditch for the school year in which the game takes place. The glitch allowing for casting spells while flying on a broom only makes it even clearer just how incredible it could be to play a game of Quidditch within the game of Hogwarts Legacy.
Broom flying in the game is already an exceptional experience, with seeing the views of the landscape from high up in the sky, particularly when played with high graphic settings, and enjoying weaving through the trees and immersing oneself in the idea of it all. The quests to find and pop balloons are pretty much the closest one can get in Hogwarts Legacy, currently, to having any kind of mini-game on a broom. This is truly a shame, as the joy of flying could be made even more special with even a short, modified type of Quidditch or other broom games within the Hogwarts Legacy.

Why A Hogwarts Legacy Sequel Makes More Sense Than Quidditch DLC
A Hogwarts Legacy Quidditch DLC would be a treat for Harry Potter sports fans, but a fully-fledged sequel would be a more sensible progression.
Exclusive PlayStation Content Is Coming To All Versions Of The Game
In Summer 2024, the developers of Hogwarts Legacy will be bringing a PlayStation-exclusive quest to every version, and also have said that there will be more updates and features added during that time. More information will be provided in the next several months regarding what that means, but so far not much has been said other than the vague announcement. It is easy to hope that this means Quidditch-related content, as that has been a heavily requested feature, but with the Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions game that is in development, it is not likely that any Quidditch brought to Hogwarts Legacy will be very substantial.

New Harry Potter Quidditch Game Gets A Disappointing Update
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions finally got an update following its reveal nine months ago, but the new info isn’t exactly promising.
Whether Quidditch is officially added to the game or not, there is always hope for added flying features on both mounts and brooms. The glitch shown above simply confirms to players, yet again, that although the flying mechanics are already incredible, there is still even more that could be done to make it feel more immersive and truly magical. If Hogwarts Legacy developers were to add some kind of ability to cast spells while on a broom, or even a small way to play Quidditch in the game, during its updates this summer, it would certainly add a whole new level of magical immersion to the world.
