The longstanding debate regarding which of the four Houses at Hogwarts is truly "best" continues in the Hogwarts Legacy video game. The open-world immersion of this RPG allows players to take on the persona of a student at the school, including being classified into one of the four House possibilities: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff. ing the best House will grant an exciting, unforgettable experience, regardless of whether they're longstanding Harry Potter fans or new to the franchise. On the other hand, the worst House can leave one feeling underwhelmed, especially on their first playthrough of Hogwarts Legacy.
Per canon tradition, students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are sorted into a House based on their personalities. In Hogwarts Legacy, this is accomplished through a short series of questions that the sorting hat will ask the player to determine where the main character should be placed. This can be great for roleplay and immersion, helping one decide who their character is and whether their personality will be different from the real-life player or not. For those who aspire to be a part of the game's most worthwhile House, however, (and to avoid the most lackluster option), there's a clear path to follow.
Hufflepuff Is The Best House In Hogwarts Legacy
With The Best House-Exclusive Quest And Amazing Common Room
The best House in Hogwarts Legacy is undeniably Hufflepuff. Students belonging to this group are said to be patient, loyal, hardworking, and fair. In the virtual world of Hogwarts Legacy, this House is the best for more than the simple idea of these students being good people. The common room is a beautiful and cozy environment that evokes a feeling of wanting to settle in with a good book, and players in the Hufflepuff House are the only ones able to access Azkaban in the game thanks to their impressive House-exclusive side quest.
An online quiz on the official Wizarding World website can be taken to sort players into a House without playing Hogwarts Legacy, and that choice can then carry over into the game if players choose to do so.
Azkaban is a notorious prison that provides a rather depressing home to the wizarding world's most dangerous criminals, and fans of the Harry Potter series will recognize its name immediately as being a large part of the magical world's lore. Missing out on this iconic location and quest in Hogwarts Legacy can be a bummer for Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin students, especially since their House-exclusive quests each take place within castle grounds.
Hogwarts Legacy's Worst House Is Ravenclaw
Still A Respected House, But A Bit Boring In The Game
To be fair, there really is no wrong choice among the Houses at Hogwarts, and Ravenclaw is considered by many to still be one of the greatest Houses for its traits of intelligence, maturity, wit, and creativity. Within the game of Hogwarts Legacy, however, the Ravenclaw House offers a stunning common room, and its House-exclusive quest does offer an excuse to see the Owlery in Hogwarts, but otherwise, there is little else to recommend it. Particularly as it seems to have gotten the short end of the stick by being given the least interactive NPC companion, Amit Thakkar.
Each of the four companions can be interacted with, regardless of the player character's House, and the player will, therefore, have access to all the storylines and rewards associated with each.
Amit Thakkar is a prominent character in Ravenclaw, but unlike the other Hogwarts Legacy companions, interactions with him are quite few and far between, and he is quite forgettable as an NPC overall. His available story is tied to main quests that do not unlock any unique or special achievements that are specific to Ravenclaw, although his quests "Astronomy Class" and "It's All Gobbledegook" will unlock Astronomy Tables in the Highlands for rewards.
Hogwarts Legacy's Slytherin House Features Views Into The Lake
Its Exclusive Quest Provides A Lot Of Lore As Well
While the Slytherin House often gets viewed as evil crowds of villains and those with poor moral judgment, not every Slytherin is bad. The House is representative of students with ambition, cunning, and resourcefulness, and unfortunately, the bad kids have been the ones to steal the spotlight. Choosing this House in Hogwarts Legacy provides a very interesting house quest involving some of the history of the Black family and a pretty engaging scavenger hunt of sorts.

How Hogwarts Legacy's Villain Compares To Lord Voldemort & Grindelwald
The world of Harry Potter has a lot of villains with different goals, but how does the villain of Hogwarts Legacy compared in of evilness?
Slytherin's common room is spectacular in appearance and a definite contrast to Hufflepuff's cheerful coziness. Slytherin has their quarters down in the castle dungeons, with its underground windows giving a look into the Great Lake at Hogwarts. Although the aquatic view and regal appearance of the area is exquisite, it is also a very dark and cold-feeling environment. This choice of House offers an interesting viewpoint for the game and perhaps even gives a natural tendency towards getting to know Sebastian Sallow even better, who features prominently in a large portion of Hogwarts Legacy's story.
Gryffindor Is Just As Iconic As Ever: A True Hero's House
Attention Paid To Recreate The Movie Settings
Developers clearly spent a good deal of time attempting to recreate the most recognizable House common room for Hogwarts Legacy. Due to the Harry Potter movies frequently showing the rooms, this House offered much less creative license for the game's designers. Nonetheless, for fans of the movies and books, getting to walk these well-known areas is a strong incentive to want to choose Gryffindor for their House.
Harry Potter clearly highlights the strength of character and bravery that Gryffindor students are known for, and by default, many players may immediately want to gravitate toward this House. It isn't a bad choice at all and is the home of another notable student in the game, Natsai Onai (also known as Natty). The exclusive quest for Gryffindor is also a fun one, as it involves spending some time with Nearly Headless Nick and other ghosts of the castle.

Hogwarts Legacy Players Are Only Just Discovering This Creepy Detail
The Hogwarts Legacy community is surprised to learn that Keeper Trials hide an ominous secret that can only be discovered with an attentive ear.
Ultimately, the choice of a player's House is a personal choice that should be made with thought given to how a person wants to immerse themselves in the world rather than whether the exclusive quest is better, particularly for the first time playing the game. If someone wants to identify in-game as they would in real life, they should do so, or if they would like to roleplay as a Slytherin, that is a perfectly acceptable and fun choice to make.
Apart from the colors of some clothing, the look of the common room, and the exclusive quests, there really isn't any impact made on the main storyline because of the choice. That said, if someone is trying to decide the best House to in Hogwarts Legacy, Hufflepuff rises above the pack thanks to its exclusive ability to explore Azkaban.
