Mydei’s gameplay kit in Amphoreus characters in Honkai: Star Rail who had previously been teased but now have a more solid release window.

In the initial teaser, Mydei, who is actually called Mydeimos, was showcased as a blonde warrior with red signs painted across his body. He wears gauntlets and pauldrons, but leaves his torso exposed. In addition to his personal design, the teaser also showcased him flanked by a red lion, which is heavily speculated to be some sort of summon or part of his kit. Now, more details about Mydei have been revealed, such as the fact that he is not going to be a Remembrance character in Honkai: Star Rail, meaning that his red lion figure is not a memosprite.

Mydei Is A Confirmed New Character In Honkai: Star Rail 3.1

The 5-Star Imaginary Character Follows The Path Of The Destruction

Honkai Star Rail's Mydeimos screams and is flanked by a red roaring lion.

Following his initial teaser, several leaks emerged, hinting at his details. The leaks mentioned that Mydei would be a 5-star Imaginary character on the Path of the Destruction, making him the first of this kind since the release of Dan Heng - Imbibitor Lunae. Since then, developer HoYoverse has confirmed that Mydei will be a new character in Version 3.1. The drip marketing was shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The new artwork showcased more details about Mydei’s design in Honkai: Star Rail and his connection to the Titan Nikador as the taker of the Coreflame of Strife.

Honkai Star Rail 3.0 Leaks: There's Great News For Players Who Don't Get The Herta

While players who skip The Herta in Honkai: Star Rail may miss out on some abilities, there’s an item that may compensate players who don’t have her.

The post also confirmed the rumors that Mydei is a 5-star Imaginary character on the Path of the Destruction. While no more details have been officially revealed by HoYoverse, the Path that Mydei follows makes it possible to speculate that he will be a main DPS, like most other Destruction characters. What makes Destruction units different from other DPS categories is how much they put themselves at risk, being capable of sustaining themselves even when the situation is dire. This is what is expected of Mydei in Honkai: Star Rail and his newly leaked kit may have just confirmed that.

Mydei's Early Kit In Honkai: Star Rail 3.1 Has Leaked

The Character Is Said To Scale With HP

Honkai Star Rail's Mydei rests his head on his hand.

Even though the specifics of his gameplay kit have not yet been revealed – this will likely come with the start of the Version 3.1 beta tests – an early sketch outlining Mydei’s kit has allegedly been leaked. According to information obtained by deep testing and corroborated by the leaker known as Shiroha, Mydei’s gameplay kit has been leaked, providing more insight into how he will function. The leak was shared in a post flagged as “Questionable” on Reddit. As seen in the leak, Mydei is described as a “stat monster” who scales primarily with HP in Honkai: Star Rail.

Honkai Star Rail 3.0 Leaks: How March 7th's Shifu Interacts With Remembrance Path Characters

March 7th (Hunt)’s Shifu mechanic may work with characters on the Path of the Remembrance, according to a new Honkai: Star Rail 3.0 leak.

The leak says that Mydei will, as expected of him, be a DPS and that his power will stem from how high his Max HP stat is as an HP-scaler. According to the information, Mydei has the potential to reach 30,000 HP, which makes him both a DPS and a tank. While undescribed by the leak, this high HP stat should be achievable through Light Cones, Relics, and Ornaments with a focus on HP. The leaks also mention some glyphs that may be tied to his mechanics, which are said to resemble a design for Blade in Honkai: Star Rail.

Shiroha speculates that Mydei may have the ability to taunt enemies, directing their efforts against him instead of targeting the rest of the team comp. The leaker also suggests that the aforementioned glyphs could refer to a death immunity system and a revival ability. While this seems somewhat unprecedented for the game, it is not a far-fetched guess. In the character’s official introduction by HoYoverse, there are mentions of how Mydei “must suffer a thousand deaths” on his journey to obtain the Coreflame of Strife in Honkai: Star Rail. This connects directly with Shiroha’s speculation.

Other rumors are comparing Mydei to both Blade and Fu Xuan, though exactly what this means has yet to be unveiled.

If Mydei does have a revival system, it could make him a very powerful DPS unit in team comps. So far, Destruction characters have gambled a lot with HP-loss mechanics, but if Mydei revives and even benefits from falling and then coming back into battle, he may be a unique character. The rumors about his focus on HP also tie in with the comparisons to Blade and Fu Xuan in Honkai: Star Rail. Mydei may have an HP-loss system, too, and possibly even some sort of damage mitigation in his kit.

Honkai: Star Rail Has Been In Dire Need Of A Character Like Mydei

No Other Character Should Tank Like Mydeimos

Although the leaks about Mydei’s kit are still superficial, it does seem like he is the character the game has been needing for quite some time. The strongest HP-focused unit who operates as a DPS and has tank-adjacent properties is Blade. The big problem is that Blade has been significantly powercrept by releases after him. Even if other characters don’t focus as much on HP as him, DPS units like Acheron and Firefly in Honkai: Star Rail have turned Blade into an afterthought in team comps.

Honkai Star Rail Leaks: New Character Form Sheds Hope For Future Updates

A classic character from Honkai: Star Rail may get a brand-new form in Version 3.X patches, shedding hope for other outdated and powercrept units.

Furthermore, Blade’s build doesn’t allow for a huge construction around HP. Even though he's still above average with over 7,000 HP in a fine-tuned build, Blade is nowhere close to reaching the rumored 30,000 HP that Mydei is said to be capable of reaching. If Mydei truly reaches such a number, not only will he have the largest HP pool among characters in the game, effectively making him a tank in team comps, but his damage output, scaling on his HP, could be like no other in Honkai: Star Rail.

The leaks about Mydei’s kit are still very scarce and somewhat unreliable, so they should be considered with extreme caution. Even so, what has been reported so far does make him seem like the next must-have character in team comps. With the rumored stats and his speculated abilities, Mydei does have the potential to become the strongest DPS character in Honkai: Star Rail so far and, hopefully, he can bring a breath of fresh air into the role that has long been needed since Blade’s informal retirement.
