So far, the leaks about Anaxa have revealed some intriguing details about their possible gameplay kit. This includes rumors that they will be able to inflict Weaknesses on enemies, much like Silver Wolf, but they will allegedly be able to target all enemies at once rather than individually like the Stellaron Hunter. For now, the leaks about Anaxa’s kit in Honkai: Star Rail have been inconclusive and there’s still a lot of discussion about them, including what Path they will follow.

The Character Was Originally Rumored To Follow The Nihility

Anaxa was first believed to be a new Nihility character, mainly because of their rumored ability to inflict Weaknesses on enemies – debuffs are the core of Nihility characters, and Silver Wolf herself, who applies Weaknesses, is a Nihility character. However, it seems like Anaxa will actually follow the Path of the Erudition in Honkai: Star Rail, as indicated in the information provided by the leaker known as Uncle 097. The leak was shared in a post flagged as “Questionable” on Reddit.

If this is true, then it should be a somewhat strange choice from HoYoverse. As a character focused on applying Weaknesses, it makes more sense if Anaxa were a Nihility character. However, as an Erudition character, Anaxa would be seen as a multi-target DPS. While it’s unknown exactly how much damage they will deal to opponents, it could be said that their rumored ability to apply Weaknesses to all enemy targets would be enough to insert them in the Erudition category, alongside units like The Herta in Honkai: Star Rail. However, there may actually be a reasonable explanation for this.

The Herta Would Benefit From The New Amphoreus Character

Anaxa’s rumored status as an Erudition character may actually be a way for HoYoverse to maintain The Herta’s value. The 5-star Ice Erudition character who was released in Version 3.0 benefits from additional Erudition characters in her team, and Anaxa would be a superb Erudition for her. While The Herta would operate as a main DPS, fueled by Anaxa, the character would contribute with debuffs targeting all enemies and possibly serving as a sub-DPS in Honkai: Star Rail.

Additionally, if Anaxa were a Nihility character, they could possibly make Acheron too strong, especially if the rumors about their all-target Weakness application are true. Anaxa would empower an older character, take the focus away from the game’s most recent playable characters, and possibly make players unwilling to pull for other new characters from Amphoreus in Honkai: Star Rail.

If this is truly the case, then HoYoverse is playing its cards right when it comes to monetizing on hype and its new releases. As much as Acheron is strong, incentivizing players to pull for new characters would result in extra revenue for them, and Anaxa could be a perfect tool to guarantee The Herta’s longevity and incentive players to pull for Anaxa themselves. If the leaks are true, Anaxa will be released in Honkai: Star Rail 3.2.
