A new free Light Cone has been leaked for Castorice’s materials in Honkai: Star Rail.

The Version 3.2 beta tests are revealing a lot of key details about the patch. While new characters and reruns tend to shine brightest in the spotlight when it comes to leaks, the leaked information is also bringing attention to new playable content. The Version 3.2 leaks have already shown that players will get access to a new pet in Honkai: Star Rail 3.2 via a limited-time event, for example. The story quests have not been detailed so far, but there is new content on the way, and proof of that seems to lie with a new Light Cone.

The 4-Star Erudition Weapon May Be A F2P Reward From An Event

According to information provided by the leaker known as Dim, a new free event Light Cone has been seen in Version 3.2’s beta tests, and it may be released during the next patch. The leak was shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” on Reddit. As seen in the leak, this is a 4-star Erudition Light Cone, though its name is still unknown. The artwork features Owlbert and Pom-Pom happily conversing over a phone call. Additionally, the leak also mentions that the new Light Cone offers 952 base HP, 476 base ATK, and 330 base DEF in Honkai: Star Rail.

Aside from its stats and the materials needed to upgrade it, the leak also highlights the Light Cone’s skill. According to the leak, when equipped, this Light Cone increases the ’s ATK by 8% (up to 16% at Superimposition level 5). Furthermore, for every different Weakness Type an enemy opponent has, it will increase the DMG the deals by 4% (up to 8% at S5), up to a maximum of seven Weakness Types. As such, if players are targeting an enemy with seven Weaknesses in Honkai: Star Rail, the will deal 28% more DMG to them (at S1).

At S5, the rumored Light Cone’s DMG increase against enemies with seven Weaknesses should reach a whopping 56%.

The Leaked Weapon’s Ability Meets Anaxa’s Rumored Needs

This specific leaked Light Cone may turn out to be a F2P (free-to-play) option for Anaxa. Currently, now Erudition characters in the game are specialized in applying Weaknesses to enemies to fully exploit this weapon’s rumored ability. There are ways of inflicting new Weaknesses on opponents, such as Silver Wolf’s Skill and Firefly’s Enhanced Skill, but the application through these sources is very limited and it should be difficult to see all seven Weaknesses applied simultaneously. However, the leaks about Anaxa’s gameplay kit in Honkai: Star Rail 3.2 indicate that applying Weaknesses will be the core aspect of their abilities.

According to the recent leaks about Anaxa’s kit, which stem from the Version 3.2 beta tests, the 5-star Wind character on the Path of the Erudition will be capable of using their Ultimate to inflict all seven currently available Weaknesses on all the enemies on the field. This is unprecedented and if used correctly, Anaxa could become an invaluable member of several teams, enabling the usage of any type of DPS since the enemies will be weak against the damage-dealer’s element. Combined with the effects of the leaked Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail 3.2, Anaxa could become even stronger.

This is because Anaxa is rumored to not only provide in the form of Weakness debuffs against enemies but also deal damage themselves. With all seven Weaknesses on opponents and abilities that target all enemies on the field, Anaxa could significantly contribute to the team’s damage output, enhanced by the leaked Light Cone’s rumored ability that enhances the ’s damage per Weakness. This leaked Light Cone seems to be tailor-made for Anaxa, even if it is rumored to be an event-exclusive 4-star weapon in Honkai: Star Rail 3.2.

By having access to a Light Cone that plays right into Anaxa’s kit, players may not feel pressured into pulling for their signature 5-star Light Cone. With a F2P weapon, they could comfortably use Anaxa’s unique toolkit, which doesn’t work too well with any of the current Erudition Light Cones. This Light Cone, upon release, shouldn’t really serve any other Erudition character, unless Anaxa is in the party to ensure that the Erudition DPS equipping it can exploit the increased DMG per Weakness mechanic. Even so, this rumored Light Cone is most likely dedicated to Anaxa in Honkai: Star Rail.

Other Erudition characters are better off with other Light Cones that work more closely with their own kits since it would make them heavily dependent on Anaxa’s leaked kit.

Back-To-Back Releases Feel Indispensable

While the news of a F2P Light Cone is extremely positive, especially one that attends to a 5-star character with unique gameplay needs as opposed to forcing players into pulling for a 5-star Light Cone that only works for them, it also seems like an intense push toward a new character. Surely, it’s in developer HoYoverse’s best interests that players pull for their characters as this is the main way the company gathers revenue from the RPG, but this push has been intense over the past few patches, starting with The Herta and Aglaea in Honkai: Star Rail.

Both characters introduced with Version 3.0 brought forth nearly indispensable kits, with Aglaea easily becoming one of the strongest DPS units so far. Her frailness is compensated for with a huge amount of SPD and damage output – and she converts SPD into more damage output, too. Version 3.1 introduced Tribbie, a new 5-star Harmony character who can operate as a capable of increasing the team’s RES PEN and contributing to the team's damage. In Phase 2, players will also gain access to the banner for Mydei in Honkai: Star Rail, an anticipated HP loss DPS character.

So far, all these characters have felt like must-pulls, but given the game’s limitations on free Stellar Jade, most of us have been forced to make difficult choices and only pull for some of them. Things may get worse with Version 3.2, as both Anaxa and Castorice are building up to be indispensable characters based on their leaked kits. Anaxa’s Weakness application feels like an unskippable game-changer, while Castorice’s kit should provide an insane amount of damage based on her rumored HP drain mechanic – which combined with Tribbie and Mydei’s large HP pools, could be destructive.

To make matters worse, specifically with Castorice, a certain leak about her abilities makes her feel even more unskippable. According to the leaked information about Version 3.2, Castorice’s off-field revival mechanic in Honkai: Star Rail could forever change the game, as she seemingly isn’t required to be in the team comp to restore a character back to health.

Overall, these extremely powerful abilities, especially compared with past releases, seem to indicate that HoYoverse is trying to push its character pulls up more than ever, putting indispensable characters in back-to-back banners and even providing solutions to make them more appealing, such as a global revival effect that could break the game and even a F2P Light Cone to supplement the lack of more options in Honkai: Star Rail.
