An update to Memory of Chaos in broken Castorice ability in Honkai: Star Rail.

The new characters are undeniably occupying the majority of the spotlight when it comes to Version 3.2 leaks, but the beta tests have revealed a series of different details about the patch. This includes the possible return of a beloved boss with brand-new mechanics in an endgame, as well as a major change to the banner system that may exclude some reruns permanently from Honkai: Star Rail. Even though the next patch is at the forefront of leaks, some rumors about Version 3.3 are also starting to emerge and a new one mentions a Memory of Chaos (MoC) update.

Honkai: Star Rail 3.3's Memory Of Chaos May Feature A Brand-New Buff Mechanic

The Buff Is Allegedly Applied To The First Character In The Lineup

According to new information provided by the leaker known as HomDGCat, who has a reputation for obtaining accurate details about future updates, the Memory of Chaos update in Version 3.3 will bring a new feature to Memory Turbulence mechanics. As seen in the leak, Memory Turbulence will ensure that, at the end of every cycle, the first character in the player’s team comp lineup will receive a buff called Blessing of Floral Candles and Skyborne Feathers, which lasts some turns and does not target memosprites – which should make it impractical for summons like Castorice’s memosprite in Honkai: Star Rail.

The rumored Blessing of Floral Candles and Skyborne Feathers buff is said to deal an additional instance of True DMG, equal to a percentage of the original DMG for every instance of DMG dealt by the character. Based on the wording used in the leak, which was shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” on Yunli in Honkai: Star Rail.

Team Comp Lineup Hadn't Been That Important In Honkai: Star Rail Before

Now, Character Order Seems To Be More Relevant Than Ever

Team lineup order is not exactly new, as it was introduced some patches ago. One of the easiest examples of this type of mechanic lies within the Lushaka, The Sunken Seas Planar Ornament set. The set’s two-piece effect sees that the gains a 5% Energy Regeneration Rate bonus, and if they are not the first character in the team comp’s lineup order, the ATK of the first character in the lineup is also increased by 12%. This set incentivizes you to put your , like Tribbie in Honkai: Star Rail, between second and fourth place in the lineup.

Honkai Star Rail 3.2's New NPC Is The Best Designed Character In A While But They're Not (Entirely) Playable

New leaks from Honkai: Star Rail 3.2’s beta tests have revealed the design of an important story character and they may be extremely well-designed.

Even so, this set, particularly, hasn’t been too relevant to the game – Tribbie and other units that benefit from the bonus usually have better options to choose from, so the lineup order hasn’t been so important. Closer to the game’s release back in 2023, players strategized team comp lineup orders to put the characters most likely to be targeted in first and fourth positions – this was a strategic method to make blast attacks from enemies less effective, as it would only affect one adjacent character rather than two of them in Honkai: Star Rail.

This was particularly effective with characters capable of taunting enemies, which caused them to become the target of the opponents.

In Version 3.0, HoYoverse introduced a new sweep mechanic via Amphoreus enemies. These sweep attacks start targeting a sequence of characters starting from either of the team’s sides, which usually leaves the last character out of the range of the incoming attack. These sweep attacks aren’t part of every enemy’s moveset and team comp lineups are still fairly skippable. However, the order of characters in teams is starting to be more relevant with new updates, the leaked MoC update in Version 3.3, which should swap out Honkai: Star Rail 3.2’s Memory Turbulence mechanic, may make it more relevant than ever.

The rumored buff in Version 3.3’s Memory of Chaos is one of the first notable effects for team lineups. Players facing the challenge will see themselves somewhat forced to use their main DPS in the first slot in the party to take advantage of the True DMG effect – otherwise, the extra effects could be wasted on a character with lesser damage output potential (especially because the True DMG is rumored to scale off a portion of the original DMG). This is a minor effect, but it could be the start of more well-thought lineup mechanics in Honkai: Star Rail.

Honkai: Star Rail - Best Mydei Builds (Light Cones, Relics, Team Comps)

Optimizing Mydei’s build in Honkai: Star Rail can result in a stellar amount of damage output against enemies if you tweak his stats correctly.

As the game progresses further into its third year of content, more lineup mechanics may appear in other activities in the game, even if temporarily like the one reported for MoC in Version 3.3. Such mechanics could also appear in more Relic and Ornament sets and, perhaps, even in future characters’ gameplay kits. For now, the leak should be considered with caution, but as minor as the buff is, it seems promising for the future of Honkai: Star Rail’s combat strategies.
