Using Kafka’s best build and team comps in Honkai: Star Rail 1.2, obtainable through the limited-time gacha banners.
Kafka is a 5-star Lightning character that follows the Path of the Nihility. This means that her specialty is dealing damage and applying debuffs to opponents. Nevertheless, she is quite different from most Nihility characters, as she is normally used as a party’s main DPS. As such, it is recommended that players use Kafka’s best build and team comps in Honkai: Star Rail. She needs to be paired up with the proper characters to fully unlock her potential, but also have her own skills and stats rounded out to intensify her powers.
Best Light Cones For Kafka
After players get Kafka in Honkai: Star Rail, they should consider giving her a proper Light Cone. As a Nihility hero, Kafka can only employ Nihility Light Cones. The best Light Cone for Kafka’s build in Honkai: Star Rail is her signature 5-star, Patience Is All You Need. This Light Cone, which can be obtained in limited-time banners whenever Kafka is also available for pulling, makes Kafka deal 16% more damage to enemies inflicted with DoT (Damage over time) effects.
Patience Is All You Need also sees that, for every attack, Kafka’s Speed stat increases by 4%, up to four times. In addition to that, enemies receiving attacks take 20% more DoT for one turn. This is the best Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail for Kafka’s build because it thoroughly boosts her strong points: her ATK stat, on which her abilities are based, and DoT applications, which are a central piece to Kafka’s gameplay kit. In case players are unable to pull Kafka and her signature Light Cone in one banner period, the best 5-star substitute for her is In The Name Of The World.

Welt’s signature 5-star Light Cone is a great option to employ when trying to achieve Kafka’s best build in Honkai: Star Rail. Not only does this weapon have a chance of coming from any banner pull, as it is a part of the standard banner loot pool, but it can also be acquired from the Starlight Exchange in the in-game store. In The Name Of The World boosts the ’s DMG by 24% against debuffed enemies. Additionally, when the uses their Skill, the Effect Hit Rate for the move increases by 18%, and the ATK increases by 24%.
This fits in perfectly with Kafka’s build, as she and Welt have somewhat similar roles in a team comp.
If 5-star Light Cones are not an option, players can rest easy, as there are a few 4-star Light Cone substitutes for Kafka’s build. The best one so far is Eyes Of The Prey. This Light Cone will increase Kafka’s Effect Hit Rate by 20%, while also boosting DoT by 24%. Another good alternative in Honkai: Star Rail is Fermata, Kafka’s signature 4-star Light Cone. Fermata increases the ’s Break Effect by 16% and increases their DMG to enemies afflicted by Shock or Wind Shear by 16%. This effect also applies to DoT, making it great for Kafka’s build.
Best Relics, Ornaments, & Stats For Kafka
When it comes to Relics in Kafka’s build, the priority is treating her like the DPS she is and boosting her offensive powers. To achieve this, the best Relic set in Honkai: Star Rail for the character so far is Band of Sizzling Thunder. With two pieces, it will increase her Lightning DMG by 10%, and, with four pieces, it will increase her ATK by 20% for one turn after she uses her Skill. If players are still in the early stages of the game and are unable to farm it from its Cavern of Corrosion, the best substitute Relic set for Kafka is Musketeer of Wild Wheat.
With two pieces, it increases the ’s ATK by 12%. With four pieces, it boosts her SPD by 6% and Basic Attack DMG by 10%. Musketeer of Wild Wheat should only be used as a substitute, and Band of Sizzling Thunder should always be the top priority for Kafka. When it comes to Planar Ornaments, there is a bit more leeway. Players should choose the best Planar Ornament set for Kafka’s build in Honkai: Star Rail based on their stat needs. As a DPS who scales off ATK, players should increase ATK, CRIT DMG / Rate, Lightning DMG, and SPD.
As such, Kafka’s Planar Ornament in Honkai: Star Rail should be one that helps her balance her CRIT DMG / Rate ratio, or increase her overall ATK in case her CRIT stats are satisfactory. The best Ornaments for Kafka’s build are Celestial Differentiator (for CRIT DMG), Inert Salsotto (for CRIT Rate), and Space Sealing Station (for ATK). The only requirement is that any of the chosen sets are complete with two pieces to activate the bonus effect.
Best Team Comps For Kafka
As was previously mentioned, the Stellaron Hunter is a DPS, so the best team comp for Kafka in Honkai: Star Rail is one that s her and her skills. As a DPS who thrives on applying DoT and boosting the DMG taken by the opponent by other DoTs, it is necessary for her sub-DPS to be able of applying DoTs. One of the best characters for the job is Sampo. The 4-star Wind character follows the Path of the Nihility as well and excels at applying Wind Shear stacks. Along with Kafka’s DoT intensification, this can utterly melt through opponents.
If Kafka is employing Fermata as her Light Cone, Sampo is a great companion, as her DMG against opponents will be boosted when they are afflicted with Wind Shear.
A viable substitute for Sampo in Kafka’s best team comp in Honkai: Star Rail is Hook. The 4-star Destruction character is great for inflicting Burn against multiple enemies. This effect is also considered a DoT, and Kafka can thrive if Hook is spreading Burn across the field. If players are tailoring for more specific activities, a mono-Lightning team could be great, and the best sub-DPS for the job is Serval. The Erudition character also applies Shock, much like Kafka, and can help with Kafka’s overall DMG output via DoTs.
For the role, a great 5-star option is Bronya. If she is on Kafka’s team comp in Honkai: Star Rail, she can forward Kafka’s move often and keep her attacking and taking advantage of DoT applications, all while also increasing her DMG output. Although she would not be forwarding her actions, Tingyun can also be the team’s , as she will focus on boosting Kafka’s ATK stat and regenerating her Ultimate energy. Tingyun is a universal , so she fits in quite well with most team comps.

Tingyun is also a Lightning character, so she could be used in a mono-Lightining team comp situation. Lastly, players must choose one way of mitigating damage intake in Kafka’s team comp in Honkai: Star Rail. The best option for this is an Abundance character. Luocha is a great character to have, as he is extremely offensive and capable of clearing status effects, though Bailu is also a great healer for the job. She is a Lightning character, however, so if players are looking for elemental diversity, she is not the best choice. Of course, Natasha is the F2P option to use if players do not have Luocha or Bailu.
Though healers tend to be better for the last role, players can use a Preservation shielder, like Gepard or the Trailblazer (Fire) to keep the team safe rather than healing them.
Skill Priority For Kafka
When leveling her Traces, the formal name for skills, players should prioritize some over others. Kafka’s main source of DMG and DoT application will come from her Ultimate, so that should be the first priority. Her second priority should be her Skill, which will be used more constantly to deal DMG. The third priority for Kafka’s build in Honkai: Star Rail is her Talent – this ive skill will see her dealing damage to opponents when an ally uses a Basic Attack on a Shocked enemy. The last Skill priority for Kafka is her Basic Attack, which should not be used as much.

Kafka can be a bit challenging to master at first, as she works quite differently from most DPS in the game. Nevertheless, her DMG output and constant application of DoTs – and the power to boost other DoTs – make her a fine instrument to use. Players should always try to use Kafka’s best build in Honkai: Star Rail dispatching her into a team, even if that means using substitutes.
