PlayStation 4 exclusive, is an open-world RPG by Guerrilla Games, most known for the Killzone series. In Horizon, players control Aloy, a young hunter in a post-apocalyptic world that combines cavemen-like tribes with robotic beasts. Players can explore the world, complete side-missions, and loot machines for parts that help Aloy upgrade her gear as she seeks to discover more about her past and what has caused the once-peaceful machines to suddenly become aggressive toward humans. The game sold over 10 million copies.

In November 2017, a story expansion titled The Frozen Wilds was released, which continued Aloy's story and gave her new upgrades and abilities. After the release of the expansion, rumors began to swirl about a sequel, especially after it was apparently Spider-Man have had speculation about their sequels dominate the discussion with inside sources.

While news of a video game sequel has been scarce, besides the evidence that it is currently in development, Guerrilla Games has also been busy would be the exception, not the rule.

Embarrassing reactions to the PC port aside, Horizon was one of the most positively-received new IPs for this generation, especially to PlayStation fans who ired the intriguing world, enemies, and combat. The deep lore around the many post-apocalyptic tribes is deserving to be explored further, and while most fans will still be eagerly awaiting news about a sequel, many can now look forward to this continuation of the story in a new medium. Look for the Horizon: Zero Dawn comic when it hits shelves on July 22nd.
