Recent online posts from Guerrilla Games developers going up and summarily being taken back down make Horizon Zero Dawn, one of the most successful PS4 exclusives released this generation that's sold over ten million copies to date.

Recently, Horizon Zero Dawn also became the first game from Sony's first-party studio to be launched on the PC. While that came as a pretty surprising move, it could mean a lot for Sony in the long run. Horizon Zero Dawn is one of this generation's most widely acclaimed, and a next-gen sequel could be a system-seller. The move was likely one-off, but the shift to developing for more technically demanding hardware could be easily incorporated into PS5 development. Guerilla Games has also promised ultrawide for that port and, considering Horizon Zero Dawn's graphical fidelity, many players are looking forward to it.

According to RespawnFirstHorizon Zero Dawn's senior quest designer, Blake Rebouche, retweeted Sony's PS5 showcase event tweet, cryptically adding, " Us." Guerilla Games Lead Animator Richard Oud followed suit, by retweeting the same tweet and stating that the console will be the future of gaming and that fans should mark their calendars for the event. Both tweets were deleted fairly soon after they were posted. A couple of days ago, Guerilla Games had also retweeted Sony's reveal with an emoji, which may betray that they are sitting on something huge. As far as most were concerned, these hyped Twitter interactions are all but a direct confirmation of Horizon Zero Dawn's inevitable reveal at the event.

Horizon Zero Dawn 2 Developer Tweet

While neither Sony nor Guerilla Games had confirmed that a sequel is in the works, a series of leaks pretty much confirmed it. Job listings on Guerilla Games' website as well as on their Twitter outright mentioned that the company is looking for developers for the sequel. Janina Gavankar, one of the voice artists of the game, had also accidentally confirmed the existence of the game's sequel, as well.

Sony's unique selling proposition for its consoles has always been its lucrative exclusives library, and the game's reveal is exactly what the console would need to build up the hype. While it might seem that the developers deleted the tweet to keep the Horizon Zero Dawn 2 reveal a secret, it might be just that they deleted it because the event was about to get delayed. Sony announced later that the event has been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing situation in the United States of America. It was a pretty wise move considering that there are more important things right now that need to be taken care of than a gaming console reveal, and it is expected that the community will stand by Sony's decision as well.
