As the seasons change in high-priced bugs in the game. Here's how to catch the bug.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons bugs, fish, and plants change with the seasons and where the player is located on the planet. This particular bug, the horned hercules, is a rare beetle that only appears under very specific conditions. Let's go over the conditions needed to catch this golden beetle.
Conditions Needed to Catch the Horned Hercules
The first condition that is required for the player to find this beetle is that the player must have already caught 100 bugs within their playthrough so far. Although that may seem like a lot, catching bugs is a quick and easy task to catch up on. The player will have to go through a lot of nets though.
The second condition is the player's hemisphere. Depending on what hemisphere the player chose for their island to be in the bug will spawn during a will appear in July and August. For players in the southern hemisphere, the beetle will appear for them in January and February.
Next up is the spawn location. This type of beetle is one that will appear only on the trunks of trees. In previous games, the beetle appeared on all fruit trees, but in Animal Crossing: New Horizons they only spawn on palm trees. However, the horned hercules will not spawn on stumps.
The fourth and final condition is the time of day that the beetles spawn. The horned hercules beetle will only spawn between five at night and eight in the morning. Due to the game always being based around the time of day it is in real life for the player, this may mean that players will need to set an alarm to go hunting.
With all this in mind, it will only be a matter of time before the player catches this rare and priceless creature. After sending in a specimen to the player's museum this beetle can sell for a good sum of Bells. Raking in 12,000 Bells a piece, these beetles are well worth hunting down to pay off that next loan to Tom Nook, buy up several well-priced turnips, or complete a furniture set.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite.
