Cancer is the 4th zodiac sign, covering people that were born between June 20th and July 22nd. People that have this zodiac sign tend to be pretty sensitive and can be somewhat moody, but are also very loyal and have incredibly active imaginations. This means that people that were born under this sign can be very emotional, but form close bonds with people and love to be taken away to a fantasy world when they read a book or watch a new movie. Cancers typically enjoy helping or taking care of others and being at home, but can be wary of strangers or anyone that tries to delve too deep into their personal lives before they get to know each other.
Finding scary movies that are a blend of being creepy while still appealing to their interests and being intriguing enough to keep them watching through the very end isn't easy for Cancers, but there are definitely some horror movies out there that any Cancer would love. Unfortunately, there are also some that Cancers would totally hate. Let's check out some of each.
Love: The Lodge (2019)
The Lodge was released in 2019 and follows a woman who goes to a secluded lodge in the winter with her new boyfriend's children in order to spend some time bonding with them. Unfortunately, her dark past and the children's reluctance to let her into their lives make the trip a nightmare beyond any of their wildest dreams.
This movie is one that any Cancer would love because of the fact that it's all set within the lodge and staying at home tends to appeal to Cancers. Plus, the familial relationship and the way that these characters all try to connect with each other in these strange circumstances are both perfect themes that appeal to a Cancer's love of being close to people.
Hate: Sinister (2012)
Sinister was released in 2012 and follows a true crime writer who is struggling to release another good book. After discovering a mysterious film in his home, he decides to set out to figure out the circumstances of the deaths in the footage and base his next big hit on his discovery.
Even though this movie is undeniably terrifying, it's definitely one that would not appeal to a Cancer. Ellison has such a heavy focus on success and getting out of his slump and this desperate search for his next big book puts everyone around him in danger, which a Cancer would not be into.
Love: Fantasy Island (2020)
Fantasy Island was released in 2020 and is a horror movie that follows a group of people that travel to the private island of a mysterious and incredibly rich man who promises to help them in living out their deepest fantasies, no matter how unrealistic they may be. The fantasies come at a high cost and it leaves the visitors wondering if they're worth it.
This movie is one that would appeal to a Cancer's imagination as they watch these people live out their fantasies, and it would keep them interested as the movie begins to unfold, showing how this island is more than it seems.
Hate: Midsommar (2019)
Midsommar was released in 2019 and follows a group of friends that travel to a rural part of Sweden to celebrate a summertime festival. Unfortunately, this beautiful and idyllic festival is more than they had expected and things take a dark and unexpected twist for the visitors.
Although the beautiful imagery might appeal to most film fans, this movie is one that a Cancer would definitely hate. The betrayal amongst some of the characters and the major twist as the characters begin to realize what's going on in this beautiful Swedish village would be a major negative for Cancers simply looking for a summertime scare.
Love: Ready Or Not (2019)
Ready or Not was released in 2019 and follows a woman who recently married the man of her dreams. Her new husband comes from a family that made their wealth in board games and as part of a family tradition, she's forced to play a game on the night of their wedding.
This movie is a blend of horror and comedy and is one that a Cancer would definitely have a fun time watching. The themes of family loyalty, the unique backstory to this gaming empire's dark tradition, and the creative twists will definitely appeal to any Cancer.
Hate: Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark (2019)
Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark was released in 2019 and is a modern film adaptation of the children's horror anthologies that were released from 1981 through 1991. The movie follows as these tales come to life in a terrifying and real way.
Although the release of this movie was exciting for people that grew up reading the books, this movie is one that Cancers should avoid. The movie has a heavy focus on the main character's familial traumas that, for a Cancer that values loyalty, might take away from the nostalgic horror.
Love: Happy Death Day (2017)
a horror-comedy that follows a college student named Tree who is forced to live her birthday over and over again until she manages to figure out who is responsible for her untimely death.
This movie would definitely appeal to a Cancer because of the repetitive schedule that Tree is forced to live and the creative ways that she tries to solve the problem and end this loop. Plus, there's a side storyline involving her family that will tug at a loyal Cancer's heartstrings.
Hate: Hereditary (2018)
Hereditary was released in 2018 and follows a family that discovers some dark, ancient family secrets after losing their grandmother. The family is forced to try to unravel the secrets of their family's past before it's too late.
Though this movie is terrifying, the complicated family relationships are definitely something that would make this movie less than appealing to a Cancer that loves loyalty and feeling close to their loved ones.
Love: Ouija (2014)
Ouija, released in 2014, follows a girl who tries to reconnect with her best friend after her sudden death through the use of a spirit board. Unfortunately, it seems as though her friend isn't the only spirit on the other side that is eager to make themselves known.
This movie is definitely spooky, but the themes of loyalty and friendship - even in death - are something that would totally appeal to a Cancer. Plus, this movie is scary in some creative and unexpected ways.
Hate: The Clovehitch Killer (2018)
The Clovehitch Killer was released in 2018 and follows a family that finds themselves torn apart after the oldest son, Tyler, finds out about his father's dark past. Tyler is forced to reconcile with what this might mean about the man he grew up with and how to move forward.
This movie is suspenseful and full of some interesting twists and turns, but it's still one that most Cancers probably wouldn't be into. A Cancer's love of loyalty and desire to be close to those around them would make this movie a mismatch.
