The new Netflix Christmas movie featuring one of the stars of the original Mean Girls has debuted with a strong Rotten Tomatoes score. At the time of writing, the streaming service has a wide variety of holiday movies available, including a robust slate of Christmas titles. In the United States, their catacludes modern entries such as the comedy sequel A Bad Moms Christmas, the musical Journey to Bethlehem, and a slate of newly added Hallmark rom-coms including Haul Out the Holly and A Biltmore Christmas.
Their slate of originals also includes quite a entries in the interconnected Netflix holiday movie universe. This modern Christmas rom-com franchise includes the A Christmas Prince and Princess Switch trilogies, which take place in neighboring kingdoms, as well as A Castle for Christmas and The Knight Before Christmas. The streamer has also produced standalone titles such as Single All the Way, Falling for Christmas, and Christmas Inheritance, though several of these have played on television in movies that are part of the universe.

Netflix's newest holiday universe movie, Hot Frosty, has debuted with a Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The release, which features Mean Girls star Lacey Chabert as a young window who accidentally brings a hunky snowman (Dustin Milligan) to life and falls in love with him, takes the typically wholesome Netflix holiday fare of the past in a slightly spicier direction. The cast of the movie also features Katy Mixon Greer, Lauren Holly, Chrishell Stause, Joe Lo Truglio, and Craig Robinson.
Lacey Chabert is a stalwart of Hallmark Christmas movies, having appeared in more than a dozen since 2012, including Haul Out the Holly.
Now, Hot Frosty has debuted on Rotten Tomatoes. At the time of writing, its official score, which has been aggregated from 16 reviews, is a firmly Fresh 88%. While this will very likely fluctuate as more reviews are added, its score is Fresh enough several days into its release that it will probably never fall below the Rotten threshold of 59% or lower. Its audience score is slightly lower than the critic score at 67% from more than 50 ratings, though the scores from both groups are still officially Fresh.

The Movie Is A Major Standout In Spite Of Its Generic Elements
Ultimately, this score does not necessarily reflect that the movie is a masterpiece. Many of the aggregated Hot Frosty reviews are mixed positive, highlighting the fact that it is able to sow joy in spite of many generic elements. However, this has not prevented it from becoming the fourth highest-rated Netflix original Christmas movie of all time, falling behind only 2019's Klaus (95%), 2020's Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (91%), and 2022's holiday special Who Killed Santa? A Murderville Murder Mystery (91%).
