Team Black vs. Team Green: Why House Of The Dragon Season 2 Has Two Rival Trailers
HBO has released new trailers for House of the Dragon season 2. This is what the two trailers mean and the reason for releasing multiple.
Everything Revealed By The House Of The Dragon Season 2 Trailers
The dueling trailers for House of the Dragon season 2 serve to hype up the rivalry between the Blacks and Greens, while also laying out each side's claim to the Iron Throne. Rhaenyra has the stronger claim since her late father, King Viserys I, chose her as his rightful heir. However, Aegon II has usurped the throne, giving Rhaenyra no choice but to reluctantly declare war, which appears to excite Daemon. Rhaenys cautions Rhaenyra regarding her desire for fire and blood overtaking reason, and it isn't long until Rhaenyra begins to fear the war she's begun.
The Black trailer reveals that Jace made it to Winterfell and is seeking from Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor).
The Green trailer begins with Alicent continuing to lie about King Viserys' dying wish to help their son's claim to the throne. Similarly, Alicent and some of the Greens grapple with the moral conflict of starting a war, while some of the more sadistic of the bunch, such as Aemond, look forward to conflict with Daemon. As opposed to Rhaenyra, Aegon openly accepts war, knowing that the path to victory is one of violence. The dueling trailers offer in-depth looks at both sides of the coming conflict, and now all that's left is for audiences to choose a side.
The trailers also reveal the House of the Dragon season 2 release date is June 16. Season 1 is streaming on Max.
