What To Expect From The Rest Of House Of The Dragon Season 2
War Is On The Horizon For The Targaryens
House of the Dragon season 2 episode 1 ended with one of the show's most shockingly brutal moments yet – the slaying of Aegon and Helaena's six-year-old son, Jaehaerys, at the hands of Blood and Cheese. Attempting to fulfill Rhaenyra's request for revenge against Aemond, Daemon goes to Mysaria, his former lover and a master spy known as the White Worm. She connects him with a former butcher-turned-guard, nicknamed Blood, and recruits a rat-catcher, nicknamed Cheese. However, after sneaking into the Red Keep, the inept pair are unable to find Aemond and instead settle for Aegon's son.

House Of The Dragon Season 2, Episode 1 Review: A Mostly Strong Return For Game Of Thrones' Prequel
House of the Dragon season 2, episode 1, "A Son for a Son" is a solid premiere that sets up the Dance of the Dragons, but has some flaws too.
The season 2 trailer shows Aegon and Rhaenyra's reactions to Daemon's plot. Understandably, Aegon is enraged by the slaying of his son and angrily declares war. Rhaenyra also disapproves of Daemon's doing, since it could decrease for her cause. After the death of Lucerys, Rhaenyra and the Blacks held the moral high ground against the Greens, and their next course of action, whether it be restraint or retribution, would dictate how the Dance of the Dragons plays out. Daemon reacting by ordering "a son for a son" only inflames hostilities and deepens the animosity.
The season 2 trailer also teases the military strategy involved in the Dance of the Dragons. As Aemond says, armies are just as important as Dragons themselves, and one of the Greens' key military strategists, Criston Cole, says controlling Harrenhal is the key to the war. As one of the most formidable castles in Westeros, Harrenhal's location in the Riverlands and its proximity to King's Landing makes it a key strategic stronghold for the forthcoming conflict. After the killing of Jaehaerys, the Dance of the Dragons has truly begun in House of the Dragon season 2.
House of the Dragon season 2 airs new episodes Sunday nights on HBO and Max.
