It's no secret that a group of employees at a big-box store and the shenanigans that ensue.
If Ted and his friends ever shopped at Cloud 9, there's no doubt that they would get caught up in the chaotic environment. Several of the characters share similar traits, so it's likely that a relationship would work between them. However, there are also a handful of characters who wouldn't be able to get through a single date at MacLaren's.
Would Work: Tracy & Cheyenne
Tracy's bubbly personality would mix well with Cheyenne's energy. They would enjoy each other's company and could easily turn the most boring tasks into a fun time. The main difference between the two of them is Cheyenne's tendency to gossip and poke fun at people.
Tracy's kindness is her most notable trait, so it's not something she'd put up with. But Cheyenne has grown throughout the series, and her days of picking on people appear to be coming to an end.
Wouldn't Work: Barney & Dina
Barney and Dina aren't as different as they appear. They're both full of self-confidence and completely open about their sex life. But the way Barney treats women isn't something that Dina would look kindly upon.
Dina's all about embracing one's sexuality, but Barney tricks the girls he's with into sleeping with him. Dina wouldn't put up with Barney's misogynistic ways, and it would become her mission to make him pay for his actions.
Would Work: Marshall & Sandra
Marshall and Sandra are huge softies who love to cheer up the people around them. They look on the positive side of things, and whenever life knocks them down, they get right back on their feet.
Marshall and Sandra both have a dark side that doesn't come out often, but when it does, it's downright terrifying. They might not act the part, but they can easily hold their own in a fight. The two would most likely spend their time watching The Vampire Diaries together and their biggest argument would be whether they were on Team Damon or Team Stefan.
Wouldn't Work: Lily & Marcus
There's no doubt that Marcus would be into Lily, but it's hard to believe Lily would ever return the sentiment. Fans may love Marcus due to his ridiculous nature and over-the-top personality, but Lily wouldn't be able to stand it.
Lily is comedic in her own way, as all the characters are, but she's usually grounded in reality. She would find Marcus's lifestyle disgusting and there is no scenario in which it feels plausible for this relationship to work out.
Would Work: Robin & Amy
Out of both casts of characters, Robin and Amy are the most alike. They're driven, independent, and go after what they want. They have a tendency to be blunt, which is likely a characteristic they would appreciate in each other.
If either of them ever had to cancel a date due to a work event, they would be understanding. Robin and Amy's careers often take precedence over extracurricular activities, and their lifestyles would fit together perfectly.
Wouldn't Work: Victoria & Garrett
Fans quickly grew attached to Victoria and many of them even rooted for her to be the title character of How I Met Your Mother. She's sweet, caring, and likely would want nothing to do with Garrett.
Garrett has no work ethic and it's rare for him to care about people other than himself. He's not heartless, but he is a hard shell to crack. There's always a chance that Victoria would be able to get through to Garrett in a way others can't, but she probably wouldn't stick around long enough to see it happen.
Would Work: Zoey & Jonah
Zoey and Jonah are like a match made in heaven. They're both known for being activists, and they would attend political events and protests together.
Zoey and Jonah would likely have some conflicting views, as Jonah is much more moral than Zoey and doesn't like to play dirty to get what he wants. Jonah could help Zoey learn to take the righteous route, while Zoey could teach Jonah that sometimes rules have to be broken to make real change.
Wouldn't Work: Quinn & Adam
Adam has never been popular among the characters or the fans of Superstore. He was selfish, irresponsible, and put their financial burden on Amy alone. While Amy had to spend all her time at work to their daughter, Adam stayed at home and created low-quality grill videos.
Quinn knows what she deserves and there's no way that she would ever put up with a man like Adam. If he ever tried to treat her like he treats the rest of the characters on the show, she'd tell him off right then and there.
Would Work: Judy & Glenn
Judy and Glenn are both people of faith, which is just one of the many things they have in common. Their shared world views would give them plenty to talk about, and they wouldn't have a problem getting along.
Glenn and Judy both have good intentions the majority of the time, but they tend to be closed-minded and stuck in their ways. It's possible they wouldn't have room to grow in a relationship because of how similar they are, but they could end up learning and evolving together.
Wouldn't Work: Ted & Mateo
Given how annoying the majority of viewers find Ted, Mateo wouldn't be able to put up with him. Ted's very confident in his sense of style and even brags about his red cowboy boots, which Mateo would likely hate.
In turn, Ted wouldn't appreciate Mateo's selfishness and his lack of reliability. They are both perfectionists and it's likely they would enjoy similar things, but none of it would matter due to how much they'd clash.
