WARNING! This article contains SPOILERS for The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 8!After some dark twists in The Righteous Gemstones would end with season 4.

Therefore, as The Righteous Gemstones’ new outings progress, they aren’t just building to the typical climactic season finale, but rather are wrapping up the entire story of the beloved Gemstone family. In season 4, the Gemstones have gone up against Vance Simkins in the church world and the Milsap family in their personal conflicts, with the latter culminating in near-death experiences for Eli and Baby Billy when Lori’s ex-husband, Cobb, tried to kill them. The stakes are higher than ever before after The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 8, with very little time remaining to tie up the family’s stories.

The Righteous Gemstones Season 4 Only Has 1 Episode Left

Episode 9 Marks The Series Finale

After The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 8, only one episode remains of the entire show. The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 9, “That Man of God May be Complete,” will serve as the series finale of the hit comedy. The finale is scheduled to premiere on HBO on Sunday, May 4 at 10 p.m. ET, airing immediately after the new episode of The Last of Us season 2.

The Righteous Gemstones season 4 holds a 100% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Righteous Gemstones season 4 only having nine episodes maintains the episode count of the series’ three previous seasons. However, with The Righteous Gemstones’ season 4 premiere being a prequel exploring the history of Eli’s ancestor Elijah Gemstone during the Civil War, it technically feels like Eli, Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin’s story only got eight episodes this season. Still, The Righteous Gemstones’ season 4 finale will be a longer entry than usual, with a runtime of 52 minutes.

Since The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 8 ended with Corey killing Cobb, the siblings making amends with Eli and Lori, and Lori seemingly reuniting with Eli, the finale is expected to have the Gemstones and Milsaps back on the same side. Lori and Eli will likely end up together, with Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin coming to accept their relationship as they move forward from Aimee-Leigh’s death. The trio is also expected to continue taking on more leadership roles within the church, and will likely be training Gideon to eventually take over the empire.

Cobb Milsap is the main villain of The Righteous Gemstones season 4, with him being far more dangerous than any of the show's previous antagonists.

Additionally, it seems probable that The Righteous Gemstones’ series finale will include Baby Billy finally releasing his TV show Teenjus. Knowing Baby Billy’s past efforts like Bible Bonkers, Teenjus will probably be a hit, giving him the career satisfaction he needs to start spending more time with Tiff and their kids. Not to mention, The Righteous Gemstones’ season 4 finale has to include the return of Elijah’s gold bible to Eli, concluding the mystery set up by the most recent “Prelude” and “Interlude” episodes.
