Warning: Spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi episodes 1 & 2

The Jedi Order was decimated beyond repair by Order 66, but as Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, the infamous event took the lives of an untold number of Jedi across the galaxy. Regardless of where they were, the Jedi fell to the clone troopers, who they had thought were their allies.

Though the movies moved on from this tragedy years ago, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which explored the immediate aftermath through the eyes of several clone troopers. Obi-Wan Kenobi has jumped a few years ahead, but the carnage reaped by Palpatine’s command is still fresh in the minds of the characters, particularly the show’s titular protagonist. Along with Yoda, Obi-Wan is one of a select few who lived through Order 66, only to be hunted down by the evil Inquisitors, who the Empire tasked to hunt down those who survived the original directive.

In Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 1, Obi-Wan met Nari; a new character revealed to be a surviving member of the Jedi Order. Nari didn’t outlive the arrival of the Inquisitors on Tatooine, but his introduction has raised questions about the number of Jedi who avoided execution at the hands of the clone troopers and Darth Vader. Looking at both the movies and the shows, little more than a handful are confirmed survivors, though there’s the potential for a few dozen more to be out there somewhere. In addition to Obi-Wan, Yoda, and now Nari, there were also Ahsoka Tano and Caleb Dume, the padawan who grew up to become Star Wars: Rebels’ Kanan Jarrus. At least a few others escaped as well.

Obi-Wan Order 66 Flashback

With Obi-Wan Kenobi, there’s no telling how many other Jedi secretly made it out that Star Wars can explore at later opportunities. Though the movies put emphasis on Obi-Wan and Yoda, it makes sense that there were other Jedi aside from them who found a place where they could live in exile. Two examples of this are Quinlon Vos and Eeth Koth, both of which are Jedi seen briefly in the Star Wars movies. Star Wars comics revealed that under different circumstances, the two characters succeeded in surviving Order 66.

While many made it through by fighting their way to safety and laying low, others lived simply by going over to the dark side. This was proven by the existence of the Inquisitors, who are actually Jedi who switched sides in the interest of self-preservation. Since that’s the case, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Reva may be among the Jedi who were pursued by the clone troopers when Order 66 was executed. As the series goes on, more may be explained not only in regards to Reva and the Inquisitors but also to the other Jedi who are still alive after Order 66.
