Disney+’s Obi-Wan and young Luke Skywalker on Tatooine. While the extent of young Leia’s role in the Disney+ series is unclear, her twin brother Luke will be closely watched by Obi-Wan during this time period.

Luke and Leia have been portrayed as infants in the final moments of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, as young adults throughout the original trilogy, and in the years leading to their deaths in the sequel trilogy. Obi-Wan Kenobi will depict the iconic characters in a brand new era, catching the Skywalker twins at an extremely interesting time in their lives; after they were separated and before they were reunited in A New Hope.

Taking place a decade after the end of Revenge of the Sith, Luke and Leia will be approximately 10 years old during the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi. During the first 10 years of his life, Luke will have been raised on Tatooine as a farmer by his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, but he still shows the same proclivity for adventure that his father Anakin did at the same age. On the other hand, 10-year-old Princess Leia had been raised in privilege by Senator Bail Organa and his wife, Queen Breha Organa, the leader of Alderaan. While Star Wars has yet to depict Luke and Leia during this timeline, it can be expected that the 10-year-old versions of the characters in Obi-Wan Kenobi will begin showing their rebellious streaks established in A New Hope.

How Old Luke & Leia Were In The Original Trilogy

Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia Comforts Mark Hamill as Luke in Star Wars A New Hope

When Luke and Leia were first introduced in A New Hope, the two characters were 19 years old, though it would be several more years before they realized they were twin siblings. Return of the Jedi picked up only one year after its predecessor, Luke and Leia were 23 years old when Star Wars finally revealed that the two characters were twins.

Perhaps due to their sensitivity to The Force, Luke and Leia’s lifespans were also very similar, with Luke dying at the age of 53 in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Leia dying at 54 years old in Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker. However, long before then, Obi-Wan Kenobi will see Luke and Leia in their largely unexplored youth, which is apt to see the twins showing many parallels to their own parents, Anakin and Pé, when they were around the same age in Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. It may be odd to see anyone but Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher play Luke and Leia, but Star Wars’ CGI technology definitely can’t justify de-aging them to 10-year-olds on Obi-Wan Kenobi.
