animal companions in Dreamlight Valley that players can befriend to have as a companion that follows them around as they improve the valley. Each of these eight species has different color variations that only appear at a specific time and day.

Befriending ravens in Disney Dreamlight Valley is different from any other critter players have seen. Players can easily befriend squirrels and sunbirds by approaching them, rabbits and foxes by playing a game of tag. Raccoons, crocodiles, and sea turtles require a bit more patience and care before the player can approach them. All critters require that a player feed them their favorite food if they also want a reward.

While all the other critters in the valley have favorite foods that are either crops that can grow in Dreamlight Valley, fish they can catch, or items they can forage, the ravens are a little more highbrow. The ravens' favorite food is a five-star meal. Players need to know the recipe for a five-star meal and have the ingredients, whether they have been farmed, fished, or foraged. Once players have their meal ready, they can head to the Forgotten Lands to approach the ravens.

Approaching the ravens in Disney Dreamlight Valley is fairly straightforward once the player locates them. Ravens will be seen flying around the Forgotten Lands, much like the sunbirds in the Sunlit Plateau; however, they can be challenging to see, considering the dark and crowded landscape. Once the player has found a raven, they should approach it and stop moving. The raven will glide in a circle, and then the player will be able to approach easily. Like the other critters, ravens will need to be fed multiple times before they are officially unlocked as companions. Players should note that there are five different variations of the raven in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

With the addition of ravens to the latest update of Disney Dreamlight Valley, players now have a variety of critters that they can have as companions. In addition, the update included the Dreamlight Valley Halloween event and a new interaction with companions where the player can now pet their loyal critter. Whether players will be seeing new companions or new interactions in later updates has not yet been hinted at; however, the game is still only in early release and is expected to be free-to-play in 2023.
