The easiest way to get Mongrel Fur would be through Hogsmeade, in the J. Pippin's Potion shop that sells the ingredient for a mere 50 gold. Players have access to this location once they travel to Hogsmeade for the first time following their first Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts classes. Although there are plenty of items scattered around both the Hogwarts and Hogsmeade map that can provide players with enough coins to purchase Mongrel Fur, they also have the chance to simply sell their old gear to quickly have enough to pay for this ingredient without any trouble.
Defeating Mongrel Dog enemies in the Forbidden Forest lets players collect loot from these defeated beasts for Mongrel Fur as well. Among the numerous creatures that attack the player in this dangerous region outside Hogwarts, mongrel dogs usually arrive in packs, almost assuring at least one Mongrel Fur to be found when a fight concludes. Witches or wizards looking to make more Edurus potions can easily get Mongrel Fur in Hogwarts Legacy by selecting the loot prompt on mongrel dogs once defeated, taking players a step in the right direction toward a unique advantage in battles to come.
