The Metal Detector allows you to find hidden ores nearby and marks the metal when you move close to the underground ore. This can be unlocked in the Technology Screen. A node will appear whenever you come across one in a puff of grayish smoke, and up to 90 pieces of Chromite can be mined per node.

You can also use the new canine Pal, Smokie, who can detect and mine Chromite for you. The best places to find Chromite are within the caves on Feybreak Island and if you have your Pal out of its Pal Sphere in ive mode, you can get up to 400 Chromite per node instead. Getting Chromite as a reward from the new NPC, the Arrogant Pal Critic, is also possible.

Crafting Some Top-Tier Items

Chromite may not seem useful initially, but it is used in many powerful crafting recipes for the game's later stages. Chromite is primarily used in the Hexolite Ore recipe that requires five Chromite, 12 Hexolite Quartz, and 20 Ore to create one piece. This is required for Hexolite weapons, armor, and even other gear in the armory. It is best to stockpile as much Chromite as possible in Palworld to ensure that you have enough to complete the set should you want the upgrade, as it requires massive amounts of Chromite to fully upgrade.
