The haunting atmosphere of developer Ebb Software's First-Person Survival Horror game truly Gigeresque world of Scorn fills players with imagery of body horror and biopunk elements that are displayed even through the smallest aspects of this title. However, players looking to adventure further into the strange madness of Scorn might get stumped by the complexities of the Crane Slide, which presents a familiar yet different set of challenges.

The Crane Slide Puzzle appears early in Act 1, immediately through the first door players unlock. Despite the gore and intensity present throughout the gritty environments of Scorn, the puzzles take center stage as the primary obstacles for player progression. In stark contrast to horror games with antagonists such as the Dimitrescu sisters in Resident Evil: Village, Scorn's action is far less frequent by comparison, instead opting to show players an alarming world while they traverse new areas.

The main objective of the Crane Slide puzzle involves using sliding pods, maneuvering them towards a light in the upper left section alongside a wall storing each pod. There are two parts to the puzzle itself, the first requires players to move a red-colored pod to the light, and the second sees a double-connected set of pods needing to be moved to the exact location after the first breaks. Two contraptions control the movement of the pods, a crane that adjusts the positions of the pods and a claw that transfers the pod set on the light to an elevator during this break in Scorn's violent FPS gameplay.

Scorn Claw About to Move Pods That are Coned Together in Crane Slide Puzzle

Identifying the limited movement of all the pods in the Crane Slide Puzzle makes it far easier for players to understand how to find the solution in Scorn. Some pods are coned together, restricting how they can travel throughout the wall's formation. For the first instance of the puzzle, the red pod is a singular piece that makes it extremely easy to guide it toward the enlightened spot. Simply moving the horizontally connected pods in the middle lane of the wall three spots to the right opens up a path for the red pod to move one space up, four to the left, and one more spot up to reach its destination.

Now becoming more akin to other surreal Call of the Sea, activating the claw with the red pod, unfortunately, breaks it, as the game requires two vertically connected pods in that spot to perform a successful transfer to the elevator. This second attempt presents far more intricate placements of the connected pods, with several horizontals that cannot move to sections without slots to accommodate them. Assuming the pods moved from the first step are in their previous positions, players must:

  • Move the horizontal double pods on the sixth spot in the second row all the way to the left.
  • Transfer the singular pod on the third row's third spot one space to the left
  • Move the one pod on the second to the last space on the third row all the way to the right.
  • Take the third most single pod on the bottom row up one space and one to the right.
  • Move the farthest left single pod on the second row down to the third slot on the third row.
  • Transfer the second horizontal pair of pods on the top row down and to the right one space
  • Take the vertical pair of pods over to where the top pod sits in the fifth slot on the second row.
  • Use the remaining space on the right side of the wall to place all horizontal and singular pods out of the way.
  • Position the vertically connected pods on the space with the light
  • Activate the claw to complete the puzzle
