It is surprisingly hard to find The Simpsons season 37’s renewal has not yet been announced and season 36 saw the series change its distribution model for the first time in decades.
Since the series began back in 1989, new episodes of The Simpsons have always traditionally aired first on Fox. While streaming services carried the show later, the original broadcast of every new episode was on Fox. However, The Simpsons season 36’s Disney+ specials changed this. As well as the 18 new episodes of The Simpsons that air on Fox as usual, season 36 features four Disney+ exclusive episodes. Unlike earlier Disney+ shorts featuring the titular family, these are full-blown episodes of The Simpsons that are exclusive to the streaming service.
The Simpsons Season 36’s “The Past and the Furious” Is Listed Under “Exclusives"
The Simpsons Season 36’s Special Is Included In The “Seasons” Dropdown Menu
The first of The Simpsons season 36’s Disney+ episodes arrived in December 2024 with the two-part Christmas special, “O C’mon All Ye Faithful.” It was easy to see why the streaming service released this special at the height of the holidays, heavily promoting “O C’mon All Ye Faithful” on the Disney+ home page with its festive themes and story. It is harder to work out why Disney+ seemingly buried The Simpsons season 36’s second special “The Past and the Furious.”
Viewers need to go to the Disney+ page for The Simpsons, select the dropdown menu marked “Seasons,” and select the black bar that says “Exclusives” above “Season 1.”
Viewers who want to see “The Past and the Furious” will not be able to find it by searching its title on Disney+. Instead, viewers need to go to the Disney+ page for The Simpsons, select the dropdown menu marked “Seasons,” and then select the black bar that says “Exclusives” above “Season 1.” This will offer viewers “The Past and the Furious” and “O C’mon All Ye Faithful,” which is a little strange considering how the rest of the show’s offerings are laid out on the streaming site.
The Simpsons Season 36’s Earlier Exclusive Was Easier To Find
“Oh C’Mon All Ye Faithful” Received More Promotion On Disney+
Viewers who want to watch 2021’s “The Good, the Bart, and the Loki,” 2022’s “When Billie Met Lisa,” 2024’s “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” or any other earlier exclusives produced for Disney+ will find them listed separately on the streaming site. However, season 36’s specials are instead hidden within the show's season menu. However, they are not within season 36, even though they are considered part of season 36.
Although The Simpsons season 36’s long mid-season break means viewers are eager to see more from Springfield’s famous family, “The Past and the Furious” is surprisingly hard to locate.
This was not an issue for “Oh C’Mon All Ye Faithful” as the Christmas special enjoyed plentiful prominent front page promotion from Disney+. However, although season 36’s long mid-season break means viewers are eager to see more from Springfield’s famous family, “The Past and the Furious” remains surprisingly hard to locate. Luckily, the above guide will allow viewers to see The Simpsons special in all its glory, despite how unintuitive its location on Disney+ might be.
