Hubie Halloween's premise sets up an entire franchise. Each year on Halloween, Hubie Dubois (Netflix, Sandler's character goes through his usual routine but must also investigate the disappearance of a local teenager.
Directed by Steven Brill, Hubie Halloween includes various subplots involving a radio DJ, a potential werewolf, and a character who escapes from a mental institution. There's also steady comic relief provided by Saturday Night Live veterans Tim Meadows and Maya Rudolph. But the primary narrative focuses on whether or not Hubie can achieve his Halloween goals and manage to build a relationship with his long-time crush, Violet. If Hubie Halloween is a massive hit for Sandler's Netflix films have mostly been critical failures, even though they usually draw big viewing numbers. Expect the streaming service to assess streaming data through 2020 and then announce Hubie Halloween 2 in early 2021.

Since Happy Madison productions usually have large ensemble casts, it seems unlikely thatNetflix may choose to produce Hubie Halloween 2 as part of Sandler's next production deal, which means that it may not release until 2023. Given the premise, it makes sense for all parties involved to prioritize a 2022 premiere date, or maybe even a 2021 holiday special.

Hubie Halloween on Netflix ends with Sandler's character preventing a community fire but still being mocked by locals. His mother then gives a moving speech about how her son saved "four ungrateful jackasses," and Mrs. Hennessey (Rudolph) chimes in by acknowledging that Hubie may not have a lot of sex, but he does have that special thing called hope. One year later, Hubie has become the Mayor of Salem and developed a romantic relationship with Violet.
Now that Hubie has gained the respect of his community, a new threat will likely emerge in Hubie Halloween 2. Considering all the references to past Sandler films such as Netflix.
