Hubie Debois' (Andy Sandler) thermos is the most valuable accessory in Adam Sandler. After films like Ridiculous 6 and Murder Mystery, Sandler's newest role as Hubie Debois is a sweet but heavily ridiculed middle-aged man who loves Halloween.
When his favorite holiday rolls around again, Hubie's self-appointed role as Halloween monitor of Salem becomes a busy job. The town is put in danger when a man escapes and Hubie gets a mysterious new neighbor. As more people begin to disappear, Hubie tries to uncover who is responsible, while local law enforcement and other citizens suspect it could be Hubie's doing. Despite his best efforts, Hubie is not fully equipped to handle the task at hand.
However, Hubie benefits greatly from the use of his thermos. The bright orange thermos may look like any ordinary container to carry soups or drinks inside, but it is vastly superior. Hubie has a custom thermos equipped with a variety of gadgets and accessories. He uses the thermos throughout Netflix's Hubie Halloween and it can be easy to miss (or forget) some of its capabilities, but here's a complete collection of what it can do.
Vacuum
The first use for Hubie's thermos comes when he accidentally breaks his bedroom window after getting scared. With glass scattered all over, Hubie uses his thermos as a vacuum to clean up the mess.
Shovel
When he goes to the graveyard to look at a tombstone, a pile of dirt has covered the death date. Instead of using his hands to move the dirt, a shovelhead pops out the top of Hubie's thermos and he gets digging.
Umbrella
When Hubie goes to talk about Halloween safety at the local school, the kids eventually begin throwing their food at him. Luckily for Hubie, his thermos has an umbrella inside that can protect him from the onslaught.
Drill
Hughie goes to investigate Walter Lambert's (Steve Buscemi) house after reports of strange noises coming from inside. Since Lambert previously boarded up all the windows and doors, Hubie uses the drill feature of his thermos to get in.
Flashlight
Once inside Lambert's house, Hubie falls into the pitch-black basement. He quickly turns a light on that comes from his thermos, making it an effective flashlight for his adventure.
Inhaler Holster
Another personalized aspect of Hubie's thermos is its ability to hold an inhaler. Hubie reveals this compartment when he visits the cops and they discuss the possibility of Hubie becoming a top-secret agent who can never them.
EyeBlack Paint
When Hubie goes into a corn maze at a high school party, he needs to put on his game face to brave the possibility of getting scared. Sandler might not have worn any during The Waterboy, but he applies some EyeBlack in Hubie Halloween.
Telescope
There is a quick moment in Hubie Halloween that shows Hubie's thermos can also become a telescope. When he is at the drive-in double feature, the Mr. and Mrs. Hennessey (Tim Meadows and Maya Rudolph) watch Hubie as he uses the telescope to survey the drive-in for potential threats.
Retractable Leash
Hubie's thermos is always by his side and he confirms that it is impossible for him to lose it. One of its features is a retractable leash that allows Hubie to immediately bring the thermos back to his hand.
Megaphone
Hubie's thermos can also be transformed into a megaphone. He uses this accessory a few different times in Hubie Halloween, such as in the picture above at the drive-in.
