Warning! Spoilers to Maestro: War and Pax #5!

The Future evil Hulk known as Maestro continues his dominance of the world he woke up in, seeking to wipe out anyone who opposes him which includes his former collaborator Victor von Doom. Although it appeared that Victor once had the upper hand, the former Bruce Banner turns the tables on him and the famously arrogant and powerful supervillain leaves the battle broken.

Doctor Doom appeared before the well-hidden Parthenon in War and Pax #2, revealing that the former Latverian monarch had actually traveled to this future and sought an alliance with the team of former demigod superheroes to take down their former ally and current ruler of the post-apocalyptic city Dystopia. Doom provided the knockout gas that the Parthenon used to incapacitate Maestro and while they attempted and failed to permanently end his threat, Doctor Doom flew in and declared himself the new ruler of Dystopia. While Doom's reception with Dystopia's citizens was not up to Victor's usual standards, Maestro truly proved himself as the strongest one there is by destroying both the Parthenon and his previous jailers, AIM.

In War and Pax #5 by Peter David and Javier Pina, Maestro returns to confront Doctor Doom but reveals that they were working together, having concocted the plan to wipe out two of the remaining threats to their alliance and future empire. Unfortunately, Maestro tried to end their partnership by failing to poison Victor, a betrayal that was not only anticipated but also had a countermeasure prepared. When their battle ends up in the ruins of the Alchemax corporation, Maestro flips the script on Doctor Doom by using a pair of massive electromagnets to strip Victor of his signature armor. Without his armor protecting him, he is left vulnerable to Maestro's blows which break a number of bones before he makes a hasty retreat.

Maestro's beatdown of Doctor Doom

Although he worked with him, Maestro simply saw Doctor Doom as another threat to his world domination and simply acted first on the inevitable betrayal that was sure to happen. Victor von Doom may be one of the world's most powerful and intelligent supervillains but Fantastic Four's Reed Richards.

Despite his serious injuries, Doctor Doom is able to access the remnants of his armor and activate his time machine, causing him to disappear despite Maestro's best efforts. It is unclear what time period in Marvel history Victor originated or returned to but this was certainly a beating he won't likely forget. Although Maestro's next villain is one from the Hulk's past, it is unlikely that Doctor Doom will return for a rematch considering he wouldn't want to end up as another crushed body that made the mistake of getting in Maestro's way.
