Hulu officially renews both The Handmaid's Tale. The critically-acclaimed TV series debuted in early 2017 and has since received the award for best drama series at the Primetime Emmy's.
Hulu followed up their success by expanding their slate - namely with Marvel's Runaways and Future Man - that's designed to reach wider audiences. Kyle Hunter, Howard Overman, and Ariel Shaffir created the sci-fi comedy series Future Man for Hulu - starring Josh Hutcherson as Josh Futturman and Eliza Coupe as the time-traveling resistance fighter Tiger - alongside executive producers and Gossip Girl co-creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, on the other hand, brought Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona's Runaways comic book series to life on the small screen in partnership with Marvel TV and ABC Signature Studios. And it seems Hulu is quite happy with both shows' performances, for they have decided to give both series another season each.

THR reports that Hulu has issued season 2 renewal orders for both Future Man and Marvel's Runaways. The sophomore seasons for both shows will contain 13 episodes each. While that's the same number Future Man had in its first season, it's an additional three for Runaways, which had only 10 episodes in its first season.
The news comes on the eve of Runaways' season 1 finale, "Hostile," airing on the streaming service. Considering that Runaways has been well-received by critics and audiences alike so far, it isn't surprising that Hulu would want to retain its younger viewership and maintain a piece of the superhero TV trend that continues to expand.
While Runaways (and Future Man, for that matter) is performing irably for Hulu, Marvel TV's broadcast slate, meanwhile, remains in limbo. ABC chief Channing Dungey is hesitant to confirm or deny renewal orders for Marvel's New Warriors to air as well.
At the moment, it's unclear what the story for either show will be in the second seasons, but now that the renewal orders have only gone through, fans shouldn't have to wait too long in order to find out.
