Marvel’s Friendly Neighborhood Superhero, The Fantastic Four’s Johnny Storm aka Human Torch, are best buds in the comic space, with their bond as heroes and out-of-costume friends stretching back decades to one of Spider-Man's very first appearances. Now, in a new cosplay image, Spider-Man and Human Torch get incredible live-action designs, showing fans exactly what their eventual MCU counterparts could and should look like when they inevitably meet up onscreen.

An image recently shared on Instagram by both @wens.1998, the Spider-Man cosplayer, photographer, and editor of the piece, and Matteo Del Rossi (@guerrieroindomabile), the Human Torch featured here, these creative talents excel when creating comic-accurate live-action looks, especially when it comes to the world of Marvel Comics.

Specializing in creating his own “Wens Universe” thanks to all the Spider-Man-focused cosplay images he’s created over the years, @wens.1998 has collaborated with Matteo on more than one occasion, with Matteo’s Daredevil and Spider-Man costumes nailing their heroic designs perfectly.

Spider-Man and Human Torch meet up on the Statue of Liberty to chat

First crossing paths in 1963’s Amazing Spider-Man #1, this issue saw Spidey try to get onto The Fantastic Four, only to butt heads and throw fisticuffs with Human Torch in the process. Eventually realizing they’re two peas in a pod, Peter and Johnny made a habit of meeting on the top of the Statue of Liberty, with their merciless teasing of one another and real rapport on the field of battle turning them into a duo who have co-headlined multiple comic stories over the years, specifically 1977’s Marvel Team-Up #1 and 2005’s Spider-Man/Human Torch.

Stuck to a building high above New York City and dressed in Spider-Man’s classic costume, @wens.1998 positions Matteo’s already aflame Human Torch flying around next to him, with the image’s realistic fire effects and background elements placing these two in a convincing real-world environment. Using cool and warm colors in an eye-catching way that highlights Human Torch’s fire-based powers, @wens.1998 also adds in the reflection of the city in Spider-Man’s eyes, showing that between @wens.1998's and Matteo’s impeccable creativity, the MCU has its work cut out for it when it eventually brings Spider-Man and Human Torch together onscreen.

It’s unclear when The Fantastic Four: First Steps version of Human Torch, played by Stranger Things alum Joseph Quinn, and Tom Holland’s iteration of Spider-Man last seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home will officially meet in the MCU, but odds are that if they haven’t hung out by the time 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars releases, they’ll definitely be sharing some screen time to help take down Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. Spider-Man and Human Torch have a long-lasting friendship in comics, and thanks to the cosplay community, they now have one in the real world too.
