Summary
- Tom Blyth is open to further exploring President Snow's story post-Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
- Blyth is willing to reprise his role as Snow, whether as a lead character or a ing role.
- Blyth believes it would be interesting to see more of Snow's rise to power ahead of The Hunger Games.
Tom Blyth considers if there is more to tell of President Snow's story after The Hunger Games trilogy's primary antagonist in the 2023 prequel movie, who acts as a mentor in a pivotal year for the titular still-in-development death tournament. Based on Suzanne Collins' 2020 novel, Snow is caught between ambition, legacy, friendship, and love during a period that will forever determine the course of his life.
While promoting Billy the Kid season 2, which premieres on MGM+ on June 2, Blyth revealed to Screen Rant he'd be open to exploring Snow's life following The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The actor stated he'd be willing to play Snow again as either a lead or ing character. Check out Blyth's response below:
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It'd be a no-brainer. I feel like I was so fortunate to get to step into that world, and I really love everyone involved: Francis Lawrence, Nina Jacobson, and Suzanne Collins.
But it would be really cool to keep digging into that story, and I do think fans feel this too. I think they were very excited to reignite the world, and I think people feel like within that reigniting, there's more to do. There are more stories to delve into.
I do think there's more to Coriolanus’ story to delve into, whether he's the lead character or whether he's a periphery character and we look at someone else's story. But I think it'd be fascinating to see his continued rise to power and what happens along the way.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes explores the world of Panem before Katniss Everdeen but will there be a sequel to the prequel?
Will There Be A Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes 2?
Right Now, Its Prospects Aren't Looking Good
Released in mid-November 2023, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was well-received by audiences, though critical reviews skewed more mixed. The movie grossed $337.3 million worldwide, which made it the lowest-grossing Hunger Games title by far. At the same time, its reduced budget, when compared to others in the franchise, meant it stood a better chance at being deemed a success. With the entire Hunger Games franchise still being highly-regarded, curiosity remains about whether another movie will be made.

Many of the creatives involved in the series, including director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson, have insisted there will never be another movie without Collins' approval. While numerous franchises continue to expand in multiple directions regardless of whether they have the source material to it, The Hunger Games has notably stuck only to the books written by Collins. As she hasn't yet written a Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes sequel, it currently seems unlikely that a follow-up will be made on the big screen.
At the same time, Blyth has a point when he says viewers are interested in more, and there is still room to explore Snow's rise to power. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes ends when Snow is still a young man, several decades before the first Hunger Games. A sequel could explore how Snow actually becomes president of Panem, or could track how he moves on from what happened with Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler). Though there are storytelling avenues here, their approval lies entirely with Collins and whether she also sees a tale worth telling.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is available to stream on Starz.
