Hunt: Showdown itself is updated with new guns, characters, and map changes. It is in its uniqueness that it truly stands out from the rest and what can eventually make it become the best battle royale-style game out there.

Hunt: Showdown offers a unique gameplay loop that can only be described as PvPvE, and is roughly comparable to that of Escape From Tarkov. The basic gameplay loop finds teams of players dropped into large maps, charged with hunting specific boss monsters. As there is only one or two bosses for the teams to kill, each group of Hunters competes against one another to get to the kill first, organically prompting PvP encounters. However, these are not the only adversities players must face. In addition to Hunt: Showdown's unique and powerful boss monsters the teams are trying to kill, the whole map is populated with various deadly creatures that only seek to kill whatever they can find. What results is a uniquely hostile world where the only friendly faces players come to know are those of their teammates.

While this sense of a dark and foreboding world may not be some players' preference, its setting in a monster-infested, late 19th century Louisiana bayou is certainly a unique premise. This novel spin might be very appealing to those looking for new things in the battle royale genre. While Hunt: Showdown may not be as popular as Fortnite or Apex Legends, the things that make it unlike those other games have gained it a solid and ever-increasing following that may just beat those giants one day at their own game.

Hunt: Showdown's High-Risk Gameplay Offers Many Ways To Play

Hunt: Showdown's unique setting and high-risk gameplay loop make it a fascinating alternative to other battle royales.

Its PvPvE-style gameplay offers many ways to play, and is frequently updated with good budget loadouts in Hunt: Showdown.

Unfortunately for Hunt: Showdown, there are some problems with it. Its high skill level means that it can be unfriendly to beginners, especially when even normal monsters can kill unsuspecting players who do not know what to do. Experienced players may also ruin the experience for those trying to learn as they can poach the reward from victorious players simply seeking to get out alive. Lastly, in what is essentially a team game, solo players may have a difficult time finding reliable people to play with. While Hunt: Showdown, has done some things to ease these issues (such as the implementation of Hunt: Showdown's solo Quickplay), they serve as obstacles for players trying to get into the game nonetheless.

While these reasons may be partially why Hunt: Showdown is not as popular as other battle royales, Hunt: Showdown is a truly unique work that offers something different to the battle royale genre. Hunt: Showdown's player counts have steadily increased since its launch and appear to be on a continuous upward trend. While only time will tell if it will ever reach monumental popularity, Hunt: Showdown's unique gameplay and premise certainly have appeal that has hooked many players looking for an alternative battle royale experience.
