American adaptation, but obviously everyone still wants to see and hear more from the boys.

We’ve taken a deep-dive into the films and the series to rank the ten funniest things that ever happened in The Inbetweeners.

“Is This A Word?”

Simon Bird in The Inbetweeners

While Will is getting ready for his A-Level exams, he takes a lot of drastic measures to make his revision and knowledge as top-notch as they can be. We all know that when the exam comes around, his digestive system isn’t as healthy as it should be, but an often forgotten moment comes a few days earlier. A stressed Will has lost his understanding of reading and desperately begs Simon, “is this a word?”. “Yes, council,” Simon replies simply.

Feisty One

Will and Charlotte in The Inbetweeners

One of the most famous moments from The Inbetweeners comes from the episode often considered to be the highlight of the show. Will has just met Lauren Harris, and instead of playing it cool and keeping her interested as many normal people would do, Will decides to do an impression of Yoda. Not a subtle one either; he practically screams “feisty one” into her face, with her simply questioning his mental state after he’d apparently doing the same thing on the bus.

The Testicle

Simon Cooper is probably the most ‘normal’ of the main four member of The Inbetweeners cast, but that doesn’t stop him from ending up in some truly bizarre, misguided scenarios. His obsession with Carly, for example, led to his appearance at a fashion show at school. One of his outfits certainly wasn’t flattering, and he ended up walking the catwalk with a singular testicle emerging from his underwear.

“Friend!”

Another of the most famous lines from The Inbetweeners is simply the word “friend”. However, for the full impact, you have to have the childish tone of voice and sarcastic thumbs up.

Simon, Will and Neil mocking Jay for having a new friend doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but Jay obviously took it pretty personally, and ended up jumping on the care of his new “friend”.

“Bus W***ers!”

The horrific attempt at a US remake of The Inbetweeners changed this line to “bus turds” and took one of the most simple, unexpected and brilliant lines from the entire show into a masterpiece of mishandled humor. Despite this, its presence (and the aftermath) in the UK version of the show is so perfect that it lands in sixth place.

The Brother Vomit

As with most of his great moments, Simon’s best ever Inbetweeners moment comes when he arrived at Carly’s house drunk on green alcohol. It took him down a strange route full of nonsensical jabbering at first, but his sudden projectile vomit all over Carly’s brother’s head is one of the best examples of perfectly-timed, but never overused, toilet humor.

“Do You Wear...?”

The sex-obsessed Jay is a character that would probably never make it to TV these days. Much of his character is built around fantastical lies about his exploits with made-up women, but on the very rare occasion, we do actually see him speak to one.

Unfortunately, during his quest to find a fabled lady in ‘The Field Trip’, he tries to put together a suggestive survey, weakly asking “do you wear, like, stockings and that?” only to receive a well-deserved slap in the face.

Neil’s Drugs

While they try to seem like a group of cool guys, the Inbetweeners themselves are very far from it. One of their group efforts to appear cool came during season three, in which Simon promised his new girlfriend that he could get them marijuana. Neil decides to make his own drugs using sleeping pills and ends up bordering on consciousness: “Tuesday, yeah?” he asks for no reason.

“How Much Lego?”

Returning to the childlike wonder of Neil Sutherland’s mind, we get the famous, simple and downright bizarre question: “how much Lego can you stuff up your bum?”. It seems pretty out of the blue, but the follow up clarification that he used to do it as a kid actually wants to know the specific pieces (“just a triangle one and a long one, maybe a couple of singles”) suggests that this might be an activity he engages in strangely frequently.

Punching A Fish

The widely agreed-upon best Inbetweeners moment isn’t going to change here. Going back to the episode ‘The Field Trip” again, but this time the setting is a tiny boat. A classic Inbetweeners mishap has meant that a fish has ended up in the boat, and instead of throwing it back in the water, Neil punches it to death. That’s it. The scene lasts a shocking twenty seconds and has no musical backing, allowing us to focus fully on the total destruction of a fish.
