greatest action-adventure gameplay that has been seen recently. With all the best elements of stealth, hand-to-hand fisticuffs, and depth of exploration, players can guarantee that they'll have a fantastic time with the latest release from Bethesda Softworks and MachineGames. This immersive experience into the world of Indiana Jones includes a great way to upgrade the player's skills outside of the standard skill trees: books.
Early in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, players are introduced to the skill upgrading system of different books that can be found around the world and bought in the Vatican City. While these books may be found somewhat easily depending on the level of attention you give to the areas, actually upgrading books requires both picking them up and paying a price. This list goes over some of the skill books that you should prioritize when you're just starting out.
10 Brawler
Power Up Indy's Combat Damage
An obvious first choice to prioritize, Brawler is a must for upgrading Indy's combat potential. Although there is not a set way to follow the progression for each skill, this is a good one to look at first because dealing more damage at the beginning of the game is incredibly important. While some of the other books only affect one option for combat, Brawler 1-3 directly affects both the armed and hand-to-hand combat damage that Indy deals.

Indiana Jones & The Great Circle: How To Enter The Underground Boxing Ring In The Vatican
In Indiana Jones & The Great Circle, players can enter the Underground Boxing Ring in the Vatican City by acquiring a Blackshirt disguise.
The first of these books can be found in the Bastione San Marco, one of the initial areas within the Vatican. Within the barrels and crates of the Castel Sant'angelo, the northwest ramparts that lead to etto di Borgo house this book. As it is an initial skill book, it has a cost of 200 Adventure Points to unlock.
9 Splinter Smash
Make Weapons Breaking Helpful
As another interesting combat-related book, Splinter Smash is slightly more expensive than Brawler but has an interesting effect that makes it worth it. Splinter Smash allows for the last hit before an improvised weapon breaks to deal extra damage. For players who tend to use whatever they can find to fight, this might be an excellent place to start using your adventure points.
The chest housing Splinter Smash can be unlocked with a code split across the front and back of a torn ticket stub.
This book is located in the main plaza of the Vatican in Belvedere Courtyard. It might be a bit more complicated to find this book, as it is inside a locked chest that requires a combination to unlock. Once it is unlocked, however, this book costs 300 Adventure Points to unlock. Unlike some of the other books, there are no further upgrades to this skill.
8 Shaping Up
Let Indy Take More Damage
Learning to improve your health early in the game is a vital part of progressing. Shaping Up is a six-part set of upgrades that can be purchased rather than spontaneously found. This is a survival-type skill and has an additional cost of 5 Medicine Bottles outside of the Adventure Points. These are some of the most useful upgrades that you can get, as it upgrades your maximum health bar for each upgrade that you unlock.

Indiana Jones & The Great Circle Difficulty Settings For Action & Adventure Explained
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will feature flexible difficulty settings for players to adjust the challenge of combat, stealth, and puzzles.
Since this book can be purchased from the pharmacy, it is not hard to find. Shaping Up costs the same amount of Adventure Points as Splinter Smash at 300 points. Medicine Bottles are more difficult to find, but when paired with some of the other books, it gets easier the further that you progress. It should be high on the priority list for any new player.
7 Pep
Get Some Extra Energy
Staying in the same area as Shaping Up, Pep 1 is a great book to get for an improvement to stamina. The first of the Pep books is available in the main plaza of the Vatican as well, so they can be easily obtained alongside some of the other books. Pep increases Indy's stamina recovery speed, so if you are prone to dashing about, this is a great place to start.
Stamina can deplete quickly in hand-to-hand combat, leaving Indiana winded and open to enemy attacks.
There are multiple Pep upgrades that can be found later, so players should keep an eye out for any other books in the set. As a Fitness type book, this book has a slightly lower cost than some of the other skills so far at 275 Adventure Points.
6 Vatican Mysteries
Hunt Out Secrets With Ease
The Vatican Mysteries book is an incredibly useful skill that players should save up for after they acquire the camera. As an Exploration skill book, the Vatican Mysteries book is a great way for players to get a more in-depth look at the areas around the Vatican City. This skill book provides additional markers to the map that designate where mysteries are found around the Vatican City.
Vatican Mysteries is connected to a few of the other books that can be purchased from the lost and found in the Vatican City Post Office. There is no Adventure Point cost for this book, but it does cost 300 Euros. It works similarly to the Vatican Artifacts, Notes, and Books skill books that can be acquired.
5 Throttle
Turn The Whip Into A Stealth Tool
The Throttle skill book is one of the most interesting books that is available early in the story. This combat skill does not increase damage or boost power, but it does give players a chance to stealthily debilitate enemies. Throttle specifically allows players to knock out unsuspecting light to medium-weight enemies with a whip pull. It is a bit more time-intensive to acquire this book, but it is completely worth it for the extra attack skills.
To acquire the Throttle book, you'll have to complete the mystery called "A Nun in Trouble." After completing the mystery and navigating through Borgia Tower, you can find Throttle on a desk inside a small office. Throttle has a cost of 200 Adventure Points.
4 Lucky Hat
Get A Second Chance
While not an obvious first choice, this is a book that should not go overlooked. Lucky Hat is an interesting Survival Skill that offers a second chance at actually surviving a fight. Found inside the Castel Sant'angelo, this book allows Indy to pick up his fedora to receive a second chance in a fight. There is a bit of a caveat to this, as the Lucky Hat skill is disabled after use while it is on cooldown.
Lucky Hat only works when Indy is in his adventuring outfit, so it's worth changing out of disguises when he's in areas where they offer no advantage.
This book is not incredibly difficult to find, but it can be easily looked over for other items in the room. Found in the Captain's Room in the Castel, this book is in a similar area to the Captain's Key, which is considered a key item. At only 125 Adventure Points, this book is cheaper than some of the other skills that Indy can learn.
3 Punch Out
Keep Up Stamina In Brawls
Much like Lucky Hat being an overlooked skill, Punch Out is an interesting skill book that players should not miss. Punch Out has a series of upgrades too, but the first of the group is available inside the Castel Sant'Angelo. This skill has the ability to restore Indy's stamina when an enemy is knocked out, making it incredibly useful early in the game. Punch Out falls into the same category of skills as Brawler directly affecting the hand-to-hand aspects of players' skills.

Indiana Jones & The Great Circle Avoids The Biggest Movie Mistake
The Great Circle is bringing back the most classic villain of the series, the Nazis, which is the best move for Indiana Jones’s big AAA debut.
This book can be found in the Castel alongside some of the other books, specifically in the guardhouse area. If you go past the narrow street and into the guardhouse, you will find the Punch Out book on a table. This is one of the cheapest skills at 25 Adventure Points.
2 Climbing Ace
Make Ledges Less Tiresome
As one of the most important books that players can get early in the game, Climbing Ace is incredibly high on the priority list for upgrades. This Fitness skill book is relatively easy to come across fairly early in a playthrough and provides Indy with an invaluable skill upgrade. Climbing Ace enables Indy to move faster when ledge climbing by using the sprint button while also draining less stamina.
The first of the Climbing Ace books can be found on Indy's way to the Vatican City Post Office during the starting few quests. If you move past the old man eating at a small table, you'll find Climbing Ace 1 just past the man. This book is the first in the set, so there will be further potential for upgrading the skill you progress.
1 Vatican Books
Find Other Books More Easily
The Vatican Books skill book is the most important book that players should be working toward unlocking first. While it may seem to make more sense to go for a health or speed upgrade first, the Vatican Books skill is an Exploration skill that adds the location of books around the Vatican to Indy's map. This book is a godsend for players who may not be incredibly observant and need an additional hand finding some of those sneakier books around the giant city.
Working the same way as the Vatican Mysteries book, this book can be purchased from the Lost and Found at the Vatican City Post Office. Vatican Books is also 300 Euros, so you may have to choose one or the other between this book and the previous. This is the most important book that you should look at acquiring if you want to efficiently grab and upgrade books early on in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
