As a whole, Injustice is a tournament fighter for all types of gamers, from veterans of the genre to beginners. As a result, some characters are easy to pick and figure out, such as Batman and Harley Quinn. However, there are also the characters that will make even the best players scratch their heads.
Whether it's through their complex combo strings, special moves, character abilities, or even a mix of all three, some characters are designed so that the player has to practice extensively in order to properly understand them.
Darkseid
It would be easy to assume Darkseid, Injustice 2. Instead, Darkseid's main focus is keep-away gameplay using his special moves, especially his Omega Beams.
That already provides a challenge, but figuring out how to connect the special moves with some combo strings takes a lot of practice. Add in different Parademons to summon, and Darkseid ends up having a lot to learn.
TMNT
For the most part, each of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is fairly simple individually. If a player wanted to stick to one turtle and focus solely on mastering that particular character, it shouldn't be much of a problem.
However, those that want to master all four turtles have a lot to learn. Each turtle has its own special moves, combo strings, and even ways of moving. They are not clones of each other, which can throw off players who are going through the process of memorizing which combo goes to which turtle.
Poison Ivy
Poison Ivy is the bane of button mashers since her combos are almost impossible to pull off that way. Melee combos are not her specialty, but rather, she excels at connecting to her special moves.
It's best to stick to mid-range to utilize her special moves effectively, summon her plant minion, and juggle her enemies. Similar to Darkseid, all of this takes a lot of practice to properly pull off, but the result is one of the most powerful Injustice fighters thus far.
Wonder Woman
Instead of the sword and lasso swapping of the first Injustice, Wonder Woman is given a perk ability in Injustice 2. Wonder Woman has access to five different buffs that affect her in different ways.
As a result, Wonder Woman requires a lot of experimentation as to which buffs affect what in combat. Also, Wonder Woman features a lot of varying combos and specials that can connect in different ways, which can make her a little overwhelming at first but incredibly effective when mastered.
Captain Cold
Despite his entire gimmick being his cold gun, Captain Cold of the large roster of Flash villains is surprisingly effective at close-range combat. However, where he can be a problem is with his character ability and special moves, which all have long and complex activations.
As a result, properly connecting the special moves that are vital to his combat requires utmost patience and learning the timing. When pulled off, Captain Cold can be a nightmare for opponents, especially online.
Robin
Being the grandson of Ra's al Ghul and the son of Batman, Damian Wayne is one of the most effective Bat-Family in a fight. That carries over into Injustice 2, but, to balance things out, his combo strings are some of the most complicated in the game.
From the long inputs to many of them starting with holding back button to most of them having long wind-ups, Robin is a character that can expose himself very easily, but when he is properly executed, he is downright overpowered. That's not even including the multiple uses for his Birdarangs.
Black Canary
Black Canary appears to be a more simplistic character who would play in a similar fashion to someone like Sonya Blade in the Mortal Kombat franchise. That's only partially true since she does feature similar close-range combat, but, similar to Robin, the command inputs are a little elaborate.
On top of that, Black Canary has a heavy focus on dodging, countering, and parrying. She can deal plenty of offensive damage, but her counterattacks make her one of the most lethal martial artists in Injustice 2. She has plenty of speed with these attacks, but with one wrong move, the opponent will gain the upper hand.
Red Hood
At first glance, Red Hood looks like he should be identical in style to Deadshot or Nightwing's classic rival: Deathstroke. Instead, he is rather confusing due to his gun akimbo. They aren't as simple as a projectile move but actually have their own combo strings.
With his twin pistols, Red Hood can perform combat, fire projectiles, and more, but the commands to execute them are all difficult to pull off. It gets especially challenging when trying to transition between a normal combo and the pistols.
Enchantress
Nobody expected Enchantress to be one of the most complicated yet overpowered characters in Injustice. Not only does she has a summon similar to Darkseid, but she also has her own buff system that is just as confusing as Wonder Woman's buffs.
Enchantress is able to increase her combo damage, special move damage, create a defensive shield, and more. They are performed through extended hang gestures from Enchantress, which can expose her as well as stop her from moving. There is plenty of room for error, but when properly executed, Enchantress becomes a nightmare for her opponents.
Doctor Fate
While there are some combo strings to pull off, that is not Doctor Fate's style. Doctor Fate is at his best from mid to far range, using his spells to zone his way to victory. This can make Fate into a very cheap character to use because if properly executed, the opponent is never getting close.
Even if the opponent manages to get close, Doctor Fate has many ways of juggling them back to the far range. From there, Fate also features his different modes via his character ability. One deals buffs to Fate himself while the other affects the opponent in an offensive manner.
