Warning! Contains Spoilers for Jon Kent: Adventures of Superman #3!When Ultraman was recently revealed to be killing all variants of stranded in the Injustice Universe, his meeting with that dark reality's Superman has set in motion a much larger threat. The tyrannical Superman of Injustice instantly recognizes his alt-universe son, executing Ultraman before taking Jon under his wing, showing him around the strictly controlled world. However, this makes a moment later in Injustice's timeline far darker.

When Superman comes face to face with Jon in Tom Taylor and Clayton Henry's Jon Kent: Adventures of Superman #3, he immediately recognizes Jon as having Lois' eyes, guessing that he's their son from another reality. This is the first time Injustice's Superman is exposed to the idea of the multiverse - a concept which will later drive some of his darkest moments. Indeed, in the Superman ending of the Injustice 2 game, Superman uses Brainiac's tech to invade the multiverse and enslave everyone - something which might now be Jon's fault.

Jon Revealed the Multiverse to Injustice's Superman

The Injustice universe is one of the darker realities DC ever explored. In this universe, Joker succeeded in tricking Superman into murdering Lois Lane and destroying Metropolis. Having lost everything and consumed with grief, Superman took over the entire planet, backed by Wonder Woman, while Batman tried to resist the new Regime. Jon's visit takes place relatively early in Superman's rule, as Lex Luthor is shown to still be alive, suggesting that the evil Superman's later plans for other realities began in this moment.

In Injustice: Ground Zero #23 by Christopher Sebela, Tom Derenick, J. Nanhan, and Wes Abbott, Injustice's Superman and the main reality's Superman square off. As they prepare to fight, the evil Superman reveals his true plan: to kill the mainstream Superman, then kidnap Lois to the Injustice Universe. This was dark enough as an impulsive threat, but this scene takes on a much darker tone with the idea that Jon's existence is what inspired Injustice Superman to extend his plans across the multiverse. This would suggest the evil Superman's plans are the result of five long years of planning, thanks to an idea that only occurred to him because of Jon's arrival.

Superman's Increasing Darkness May Have Begun with Jon

Superman vs Injustice Superman

Injustice's Superman was already a twisted villain, but after he conquered Earth, he turned his eyes to the infinite worlds of the multiverse. Now, it seems that his ambitions grew because of meeting the mainstream Jon Kent, who made it clear to the evil Superman that there were other realities out there, including other Lois Lanes and other children he didn't have to live without. It's a heartbreaking idea but a genius retcon, as it plays on Clark Kent's believable corruption that made Injustice's Batman vs Superman war great.

Jon Kent journeyed into the multiverse to do good, but unbeknownst to him, he may have just instigated a huge amount of suffering to come - suffering which fans already saw unfold in the Injustice games and tie-in comics. Now, Jon needs to find a way home, not just to escape the evil Superman, but to avoid any more complicity in the terrible events to come.
