ultrabooks and regular laptops for casual gamers. Arc 5 and Arc 7 are aimed at more serious gamers, and devices with those cards will launch later this year.

As for the RTX 3050, it is Nvidia's entry-level discrete graphics card that is available on low-power laptops for casual gamers. It is one of the most widely-used GPUs in its category, along with AMD's RX 6500M. If the new Arc cards can match the RTX 3050 in of performance, there's a good chance that it will become relatively common in the coming months. However, most serious gamers will still look at the Arc 5 and Arc 7 cards, and more importantly, the desktop Arc Alchemist offerings that are expected to launch this summer.

Intel's new Arc A370M mobile GPU comes with 8 Xe-Cores of ACM-G11 Alchemist GPU, 4GB of 64-bit GDDR6 memory, and a default TDP in the 35 to 50W range. It was tested by PC World with various benchmarking apps and games. The results suggest that the chip is as fast as NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 laptop GPU, offering similar performance in 3DMark Time Spy, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition.

Similar Performance To The RTX 3050

According to the report, an MSI Summit E16 Flip Evo laptop with the new Intel chip notched up 4,405 points in 3DMark Time Spy, which is just slightly ahead of the 3,772 scored by the RTX 3050 in an HP Spectre x360 16 and slightly behind the 4,396 racked up by an Asus Vivobook Pro OLED, also running an RTX 3050. In Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, the MSI laptop with Arc graphics scored 7,196 points, only slightly lower than the HP Spectre, which notched up 7,639 points.

The tests yielded similar results in the two other games. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the MSI laptop hit 59 frames per second, while the HP laptop could manage only 50 fps. In Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, the A370M returned 19 fps at high settings while gaming at 1080p, while the RTX 3050 offered 22 frames per second under the same settings. However, the Arc A370M was soundly beaten in all the tests by the RTX 3060, which suggests s will have to wait for the Intel Arc 5-series and 7-series cards for serious gaming with high frame rates.
