How Has AMC's Interview With The Vampire Been Received?

Mike Flanagan Isn't The Only Praising The Series

Flanagan is far from the only one praising AMC's Interview with the Vampire, which has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics across its first two seasons, specifically for its writing, costume design, soundtrack, production design, performances, and the cast's chemistry. Premiered in 2022, reviews praised season 1 for its whimsical tone and grand scope that effectively captured Rice's gothic masterpiece, dispelling any doubts about the story's potential for a successful revival. Season 1 holds a near-perfect 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Premiered in May 2024, Interview with the Vampire season 2 reviews praised the show for sticking to its strength with fresh settings and vibrant character portrayals, resulting in another 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Flanagan especially praised the season 2 finale, which just aired on June 30, for "perfectly sticking the landing on an absolutely exceptional second season." AMC's adaptation has also been praised for embracing the LGBTQ+ aspects of Rice's novel, which were only hinted at in the 1994 film, and also exploring themes such as race and abuse.

After the first two seasons adapted Rice's eponymous novel, season 3 is set to adapt The Vampire Lestat, the second book in The Vampire Chronicles. A master of horror himself, Flanagan is just the latest to praise AMC's Interview with the Vampire which, with overwhelmingly positive reviews across the board, should be on the air for the foreseeable future.
