Hit indie strategy game Into The Breach is getting some cool new additions as a free update. After this update, called Into the Breach: Advanced Edition, the game will have additions to nearly every facet of its gameplay, including pilots, missions, mechs, and more. In addition, an interesting new port of the game will be released as well.
Into The Breach was developer Subset Games' second game, following 2012's strategy hit FTL: Faster Than Light. Originally released on PC, Into The Breach is widely regarded as one of the best indie games of 2018, the year of its release. Following the initial release in February, the game then came to Nintendo Switch in August of that year. Since its release, the game hasn't been updated with much other than new localization and optimization patches.
That changes on July 19, when Into The Breach gets upgraded to Into The Breach: Advanced Edition. Most parts of the game will remain the same, just with additional content. For those looking for an extra challenge, though, a new, more challenging difficulty mode will be coming with the update as well. The update also comes at the same time as an interesting new port for players to get their hands on.
Into The Breach: Advanced Edition Brings Loads Of New Content For Free
Into The Breach: Advanced Edition isn't bringing anything to reinvent or overhaul the game, unlike overhauls that games like No Man's Sky have gotten through free updates. Instead, the game is bringing a lot more of what players already love. On the player side, there will be access to five new mech squads, four new pilots, and nearly forty new weapons. This brings the total to fourteen squads of mechs to choose from. In addition, players will have new challenges to face, with new enemies, bosses, and mission objectives coming in the Advanced Edition update as well. These new gameplay updates should bring new, exciting changes to bring new players in or provide new challenges for experienced players. Given the game's run-based nature, these should mix into the existing content to significantly expand the scope of the game.
In addition to the new gameplay changes, Into The Breach: Advanced Edition will be coming to a whole new platform: mobile. As a part of Netflix's new mobile gaming initiative, the game will be coming to iOS and Android for free to all Netflix subscribers. Into The Breach: Advanced Edition coming to the service is off the heels of a fruitful week for Netflix's gaming division, which acquired interesting games like Poinpy, a new platformer from Downwell's creator.
Into The Breach seems poised to make a comeback in a big way in July. Its new Advanced Edition update seems like it will bring loads of new content to the game to attract players new and old to the tactics game. In addition, the game coming to mobile through Netflix's subscription could attract even more attention to the game when Into The Breach launches the new update and releases on mobile on July 19.
