The following contains spoilers for Invincible season 3 episode 8, "I Thought You'd Never Shut Up," now streaming on Prime VideoAtom Eve's big moment in the Invincible's most morally upstanding characters as well as Mark's love interest.
Both of these factors play into the high stakes of “I Thought You'd Never Shut Up,” the Invincible season 3 finale. During her battle with the Viltrumite powerhouse Conquest, Eve is pushed beyond her prior limits and showcases just how powerful she could really be if none of those subconscious restraints she has on her abilities were present. However, there are some serious complications for her powers and Invincible's future. Here is how Eve's power boost in the season 3 finale of Invincible works, if it is a permanent boost, and how it compares to her comics counterpart.
Atom Eve's Power Boost In Invincible Season 3's Finale, Explained
Atom Eve Becomes Strong Enough To Wound A Viltrumite
Atom Eve's massive power boost in the final episode of Invincible Season 3 cements her one of the show's most powerful characters. After spending the opening sequences of “I Thought You'd Never Shut Up” in the hospital following her injuries during the Invincible War, Eve quickly rushes back into the field to help Mark fight Conquest. Although her powers briefly confound and rip up the Viltrumite brawler, he adapts and mortally wounds Eve. However, this actually ends up forcing her to lower the subconscious mental blocks surrounding her powers as an act of insticutal self-preservation.

An Invincible Villain's Redemption Proves Who Was Right Out Of Cecil & Mark Grayson
Invincible's big redemption storyline across season 3 pays off during the height of the Invincible War, proving why Cecil was right.
Now capable of manipulating organic matter, Eve js able to repair the damage to her body and then unleash a blast of energy powerful enough to severely injure Conquest. Although this attack drains the last of her strength and fails to kill Conquest, it turns the tide of the battle at a crucial junction and gives Mark the opening to defeat him. While Eve initially seems thrown by her power boost, and it's likely that it will lower again once she's out of mortal peril and her mental blocks are back in place, this is a big step forward for the hero.
How Powerful Is Atom Eve Now? Can She Actually Die?
Eve Might Not Be Unstoppable, But She's Pretty Hard To Put Down
What makes Eve's new powers boost so notable is that it effectively makes Eve potentially immortal, as well as a natrual counter to Viltrumites. If she can unleash a similar blast if energy as she did on the Viltrumite Empire's enforcer Conquest, she may be able to single handedly deal with weaker Viltrumites. Eve was already remarkably powerful, but gaining control over organic molecules allows her to operate on a god-like level. Even if she can't access that power all the time, her fight with Conquest highlights how she can now undo potentially fatal physical damage she suffers fighting someone.
Even potentially taking Atom Eve by surprise would fail to fully put her down, unless her entire body could be destroyed
The fact that Eve can do this subconsciously means it is even harder to kill her. Eve is able to stitch together her body without even fully realizing it, restoring her body to peak health and undoing the damage. Even potentially taking Atom Eve by surprise would fail to fully put her down, unless her entire body could be destroyed. The fact that other versions of Eve have died or been paralyzed in the multiverse means Eve isn't immortal. However, she can functially walk off almost any potential death in the line of duty.
What Does Eve's Powers Malfunctioning Mean?
Eve's Powers Acting Could Tease Eve's First Pregnancy Storyline
One of the more harrowing discoveries for the audience in the aftermath of Eve's fight with Conquest is the hint that Eve's powers may be getting out of control. During a sweet scene between her and Mark, Eve uses her powers to make his clothes disappear off of him. It's a romantic gesture so the two can sleep together. However, the clothes are then shown melting into a colorful goop, suggesting that her powers may be malfunctioning on a molecular level. This is a very worrisome discovery, especially considering Eve's impressive power levels and dangerous potential.
Invincible season 3 adapts up to the events of Invincible #65. The true nature of Eve's power malfunction is revealed at the end of Invincible #68, making it likely that the reveal will be an early plot beat in the season 4.
This is something season 4 of Invincible will need to explore, especially because the original comics revealed that her power malfunctions aren't because of her near-death experience. Her powers are acting up at this point in the story because she's pregnant. This becomes a major storyline in Mark's relationship, as Eve is forced to limit her power usage. She eventually gets an abortion while Mark is off-planet, but they do eventually have a family together.
How Powerful Does Eve Become In The Invincible Comics?
Eve Eventually Gains The Ability To Reset Her Body When She Grows Too Old
Like her animated counterpart, Eve is one of the most powerful characters in the Invincible comics, even if her power boost after fighting Conquest isn't easily accessible. Even limited by her subconscious blocks or out of a choice to protect her eventual wanted pregnancy, Eve remains a clever and empathetic figure within the superhero community. Although she doesn't always retain her control over biological molecules, she still proves more than capable of soldering her way through battles even without reaching that state.
One unexpected benefit of this power boost doesn't become obvious until near the end of the Invincible comic series, however. One of the more surprising discoveries from late in the comics is the discovery that Eve automatically resets her body whenever it nears death. This also applies to old age, as the comics Eve grows old while a much longer-living Mark remains fairly consistent physically. However, when old enough and close enough to a natural death, Eve gains access to her unrestrained powers and can reset her body. This allows Eve to functionally live forever alongside Mark.
Could Eve Become More Powerful Than Mark?
Eve Could Become Invincible's Version Of Doctor Manhattan
Given the right circumstances, Eve could potentially outclass any other character in the Invincible universe, including the titular hero. Her only real restraint is the mental blocks on using her powers on organic material. If that wasn't present, Eve would be comparable to characters like Doctor Manhattan, capable of destroying people with nothing more than a simple wave of the hand. Even Viltrumites are ultimately mortal, even if they're durable enough to withstand most physical pain.
Even just a wild blast from a healing Eve was potent enough to seriously injure Conquest despite his sheer strength and durability. If Eve could find a way to get rid of those restraints and fully train her powers, Eve could potentially become the strongest being in the universe. However, this would require Eve to make a huge step that could cost her humanity, something she may never be fully able to do in Invincible.
