Speaking with Comicbook.com, Kirkman provided an update on the Invincible live-action movie. The comic book creator seemed optimistic about the film, noting he "would be shocked if it doesn’t happen one day." He did say, however, "that the television show makes it vastly easier and vastly more difficult in various different aspects of the development of the movie." The Film Was First Announced In 2017

The creator's update comes eight years after the Invincible live-action movie was first confirmed in 2017. The original announcement came before the February 2018 conclusion of the original story, and before the June 2018 confirmation that Prime Video had given the animated show a series order for eight episodes. While development on the film has been much slower, it was confirmed to be in progress as recently as 2021. Invincible producer and voice actor Seth Rogen later confirmed that the animated series was influencing the live-action project.

Kirkman's most recent statement provides some vagueness as to how that influence operates. On the one hand, the television show could make things "vastly easier" because it already establishes the main characters. However, the possible difficulty is that the movie might not want to re-tread storylines that are already well-developed in the series.
