Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3, episodes 1-3.Ever since Invincible season 3 avoiding a midseason break and returning to its original release schedule was already a positive sign, but its ability to maintain the franchise's quality has cemented its status as one of the best superhero shows around.
Additionally, the early reception to the latest season has been overwhelmingly positive for a variety of reasons, but the decision to drop a classic trope will undoubtedly help the story going forward. Considering the series has been known for pushing the boundaries and tackling subjects that its competitors often shy away from, it was a little disappointing to see it entertain one tired theme for so long. However, Mark changing his suit isn't Invincible season 3's only fresh start, as it finally scrapped one overdone storyline and set up a much more positive future for the protagonist going forward.
Mark & Eve Getting Together Means This Superhero Trope Can Finally Die
Superhero Life Will No Longer Get In The Way Of Mark's Romance As It Has In Previous Seasons
Having started the series as friends, Mark and Eve have finally gotten together after two seasons of growing closer, which subsequently kills one of Invincible's most underwhelming tropes. Although Mark and Eve's romance in season 3 has felt like a long time coming, it isn't the protagonist's first relationship, as he dated Amber throughout the first two installments. Despite Amber being a good person who genuinely loved Mark, their relationship fell into the classic trap of superhero life getting in the way, something that has become relatively common and has hindered Invincible more than it helped it.
Eve completely understands the superhero life given she has powers herself, and season 3's first three episodes have already proven she's a much better fit for Mark
Unfortunately, some viewers turned on Amber for criticizing Mark's time-keeping and constant lies despite knowing he's a hero, making it hard to truly enjoy their relationship. In contrast, Eve completely understands the superhero life given she has powers herself, and season 3's first three episodes have already proven she's a much better fit for Mark. The two have talked about their problems and emotionally ed one another in a way neither could previously, which has been a breath of fresh air, and with both of them being involved in saving the world, superhero work shouldn't interfere with their love life.
Invincible Will Be A Better Show Now Mark & Eve Are In A Relationship
The Duo Being Together Will Offer Small Comforts & Provide Warmth In An Often Dark Story
With Mark and Eve finally confessing their feelings towards one another, Invincible looks set to get even better. Both had complicated past relationships, with Mark and Amber's lives being too different, while Rex Splode cheated on Eve, leaving them both heartbroken for different reasons. However, the central characters now have the emotional they need, and watching Mark and Eve fight by each other's side will be exciting. They each have someone they can rely on in battle and at home, allowing the couple to deal with their problems as a team, and they seem destined to find happiness together.

Who's Watching Invincible & His Family At The End Of Season 3, Episode 3
Invincible season 3's first batch of episodes closed with a mysterious figure watching Mark, but the show never fully revealed their identity.
Given Invincible's content is often dark and brutal, seeing two of the show's best characters confide in each other will add some much-needed warmth. Mark's spirit already looked unbreakable, but with someone who understands him standing by his side every step of the way, it will allow him to reach his full potential. Likewise, Eve's aspirations outside the superhero world will be constantly ed by the protagonist, giving them both a much more optimistic future, meaning Invincible has cut out its overused trope and traded it for a much more engaging and wholesome story, which should only get better.
