Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3, episode 3!
Invincible show is full of villains, with season 3 already featuring several recurring antagonists who first appeared in seasons 1 and 2 of the show. While some of these recurring villains are of little importance to the overall story, this one returning character in Invincible season 3 plays a big role in the history of a Guardians of the Globe member, although one element is left unexplained.
Invincible season 3 sees the proper introduction of Multi-Paul, a unique villain who fans of the comics have been eagerly awaiting. Multi-Paul is the brother of Dupli-Kate, with him having a similar backstory and power set as his superhero sibling. In Invincible season 3, Multi-Paul attacks Invincible and Rex Splode while they are on another mission, with him believing that Kate's death is their fault. Luckily, Kate appears, stopping Paul after revealing that she faked her death.
Invincible Season 3 Doesn't Explain How Multi-Paul Broke Out Of Prison
It Is A Question Left Unanswered
Although Multi-Paul is properly introduced in Invincible season 3, this isn't the first time that the character has appeared in the show. Multi-Paul actually had a cameo appearance in the background of Invincible season 2, with him appearing as an inmate in a GDA prison. Very little is known about the character at this point, but fans of the comics recognized that it was a tease of what was to come in Invincible season 3.

Invincible's The Immortal Explained: Powers, Original & How Old He Is
The Immortal is one of the most important of the Guardians of the Globe, and here is everything that Invincible has revealed about him.
Unfortunately, this cameo creates a problem for the Invincible TV show. Since viewers know that Paul was previously in prison, they have to wonder how he got out. Invincible season 3 offers no explanation as to how he escaped the GDA prison. This is made even more obvious by some of Paul's villain friends mentioning to Titan that Paul was previously stuck in prison, highlighting this glaring story omission.
Invincible Previously Teased How Multi-Paul Could Escape Prison
He Isn't The First Villain To Do It
Although Multi-Paul's prison escape is not properly covered, the show has set up some possibilities as to how it could have been pulled off. It was already shown that the Mauler Twins were easily able to escape the same GDA prison, meaning that it is possible that the facilities just aren't that secure. Multi-Paul could have escaped in a similarly easy fashion, with the writers just not feeling that this explanation was important.

How Strong Is Omni-Man? Invincible's Ultimate Warrior Puts the Hulk to Shame
The Invincible universe is full of major powerhouses, but Omni-Man stands out as the strongest of them all due to his impressive feats.
Invincible villains are often seen breaking out of prison, with Doc Seismic doing it as well. Multi-Paul's ability to clone himself would be helpful is pulling off a prison b reak unnoticed, meaning that Invincible season 3 didn't make his return completely implausible.
