Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3's finale, "I Thought You'd Never Shut Up".evil Mark Grayson variants in Invincible's most recent episodes, it felt like the show was shifting towards new threats being the focal point of the story, but the franchise's most overlooked problem is officially back. The sequids are alien-like creatures capable of possessing their host, and the hive mind they share makes them a real danger, as they have caused chaos across multiple planets.
Without a host, they come across as relatively harmless, but once they latch onto a more powerful being, the sequids are capable of forming large armies due to their huge population, making them a concern that needs to be treated seriously. Having featured numerous times throughout the series, it felt like their defeat in season 2 would be the end of them, but the species somehow survived, and Invincible season 3's ending teased their menacing return. As a result, viewers will naturally be curious about how they're still alive alongside what their role will be in season 4.
How The Sequids Are Still Alive (& On Earth) In Invincible Season 3
One Sequid Survived The Events Of Season 2 & Possessed Rus Livingston
While there are still some mysteries about the sequids' survival, Invincible confirmed that a single creature managed to make it back to Earth after the season 2 showdown. Having successfully thwarted the sequids' attempt to invade the planet, Mark, Eve, and the Guardians of the Globe returned from space with Rus Livingstone, an astronaut who was possessed by the alien species while on Mars. Although the heroes were able to free him from the sequids' control, one of the aliens hid inside Rus' stomach, which he discovered after throwing the sequid up, resulting in him becoming possessed once again.
With Rus still possessed, the sequids seemed to reproduce rapidly and find multiple new hosts, setting them up to be one of Invincible season 4's biggest problems.
From here, little is known about what this villainous species has been up to, but season 3 indicated that more than one may have survived, resulting in them lying low inside the sewers. With Rus still possessed, the sequids seemed to reproduce rapidly and find multiple new hosts, setting them up to be one of Invincible season 4's biggest problems. Having the wherewithal to keep their presence hidden ultimately seems to be what has allowed them to survive on Earth undetected, and with multiple humans already under their control, it's only a matter of time before their invasion begins.
What Happens With The Sequids In The Invincible Comic Books
The Sequids Cause An Entire City To Be Quarantined In The Comics
The sequids manage to become a major issue once again in the Invincible comics after the events in space, as they repopulate on Earth and attempt to take over the planet. Just like season 3's finale hinted at, the alien creatures successfully possess an entire city in the source material, which has to be put into quarantine to keep the threat contained. Once again, the Guardians are sent to deal with the invasion, with Mark showing up later in the battle. However, despite having protective measures against the sequids, the technology is destroyed, creating a dire situation for the heroes.

Invincible Season 3 Is Great, So Why Is It Making Me So Anti-Superhero?
Invincible season 3 has arguably been the show's best installment yet, but it has also raised plenty of questions about the integrity of its heroes.
With few options left, Mark shows his more villainous side in the Invincible comics, opting to fly in and punch Rus' head straight off his body, leaving the sequids without a viable host, thus neutralizing the threat. Unfortunately, this results in an innocent man dying, as Rus had no control over his actions, nor did he choose to be possessed. It's one of the franchise's many moral dilemmas that it puts Mark through, but this decision does ultimately put a stop to the sequids' attempted invasion and essentially ends the species' role in the overarching story.
Are The Sequids Really Still A Threat In Invincible?
These Seemingly Minor Villains Could Still Cause Plenty Of Problems
Given season 3's ending practically confirmed the sequids will be back, it's worth exploring how big of a danger they really are. Considering the limitations they have, such as needing a host and being unable to penetrate thick skin, it's clear they aren't the show's number one threat, but this doesn't mean they should be taken lightly. The comics indicate that Earth will make it through the invasion with far fewer casualties than the Invincible War or Omni-Man's season 1 attack, but the series could still make some critical changes, and the sequids' hive minds are a major problem.
The sequids made their first Invincible appearance in season 1, episode 4, "Neil Armstrong, Eat Your Heart Out".
In theory, they could enslave most of the population, with only a certain few individuals being immune from their control. They have also caused plenty of chaos previously and could inflict serious damage if they were to take over Earth, showcasing the potential danger they pose. Invincible's heroes should have more than enough experience to take them down - especially since they faced the sequids before - but all it takes is a few of these creatures to slip under the radar and an entire invasion could happen all over again, making them one of the franchise's most underrated threats.
