Thanks to the first Invincible season 3 poster, which was revealed at Invincible in his new blue suit ready to fight someone who is not directly pictured. However, the shadow of his opponent looms over him. While this might initially seem to be a potential tease for Mark's evil variants, several details confirm that it is Powerplex he's fighting.

Between the similar body build and haircut, the identity of Invincible season 3's villain as one of Mark's evil variants would be an easy mistake to make. However, the yellow lightning that is featured in the poster and the raised pad on the shoulder imply that this is Powerplex after all. Powerplex's powers in the comics are green lightning bolts instead of yellow, but it appears that the show has changed that detail for some reason. In any case, this confirms that audiences will see Invincible fight Powerplex in Invincible season 3.

Powerplex's Origins Connect To Mark & Omni-Man's Fight From Season 1

He's Tied To The Destruction

Mark and Omni-Man in Invincible season 1's finale

The introduction of Powerplex in Invincible season 3 means the show is going to recontextualize the events of Mark and Omni-Man's fight. Invincible season 1's ending revolved around the destructive battle between father and son, as Omni-Man laid waste to cities and killed countless humans to prove a point to Invincible. In the comics, Scott Duvall a.k.a. Powerplex loses his sister during this fight, as she is killed among the destruction. This becomes the beginning of his origin story to seek revenge on Invincible and Omni-Man, the people he blames for his sister's death.

After Invincible season 2 spent time redeeming Omni-Man and mending his and Mark's relationship, season 3 is now prepared to remind everyone of the destruction and death that occurred the last time Nolan Grayson was on Earth. It will be a chance to further explore the human element of the superhero world. For a show that features plenty of devastating events, Invincible season 3 will change how you see season 1's ending and other city or world-threatening villain battles.
