Amazon Prime Video's smash-hit superhero animated series Invincible is flying back into action in season 4, and there are already a host of exciting updates about the next installment. Created for the small screen by Robert Kirkman (from his eponymous comic book series), the series concerns teenager Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) who begins to develop superhero powers on his 17th birthday. Originally learning the ropes from his superhero father, Omni Man (J.K. Simmons), Mark begins to forge his own path after learning that his father isn't the positive role model he once thought.

Brilliantly eschewing the tropes of the superhero genre while still delivering an exciting product, Invincible brilliantly adapts the emotional weight of Kirkman's classic comic book series. Season 3 catches up with Mark in the aftermath of his battle with Angstrom, as the young hero forms a shaky alliance with Cecil (Walton Goggins) who might not have his best interests in mind. Meanwhile, Nolan/Omni Man's road to redemption continues, and the ensemble grows with new heroes and villains. This all sets the stage for more exciting action in the future, and Amazon Prime Video has already renewed Invincible for season 4.

Coming shortly after season 3's finale aired, the latest news offers a few updates concerning Invincible season 4's development. In a cheeky post on the X (formerly Twitter) for Invincible, it was revealed that the show will return in 2026, voice acting is complete, there will be a new storyline not from the comics, the role of Thragg has been cast, and humorously it finishes by saying that the role of Invincible has also been cast. These updates corroborate what Robert Kirkman said earlier in March 2025, when he speculated that the show would be back in February.

Thragg has been cast, but the actor playing the role isn't known yet.

Perhaps in an effort to expedite the next season to avoid another long wait, Amazon Prime Video actually renewed Invincible season 4 all the way back in July 2024. The news was broken during 2024's San Diego Comic Con, where it was announced that season 4 was indeed green-lit. This wasn't particularly surprising, considering the show's immense popularity, but the decision to announce season 4 so early is indicative of Prime Video's plans for the series' future.

Invincible season 3 premiered on February 6, 2025.

There was more than a two-year gap between seasons 1 and 2, and even the significantly shorter gap between seasons 2 and 3 stretched on for almost a year after the sophomore season was split in half. With season 3 returning to a more traditional release structure (with no breaks during the season), it stands to reason that an early renewal for Invincible season 4 could allow the creators to deliver episodes at a more consistent pace. Robert Kirkman echoed this sentiment when he announced that the plan is deliver new seasons every February.

The official Invincible on X (formerly Twitter) posted an image of various characters to celebrate the show's early renewal.

Invincible Season 4 Cast Details

Who Will Survive To Fight Again In Season 4?

While almost everyone in the cast is seemingly expendable, there are a host of characters who will likely live to fight again in Invincible season 4. Obviously, the show's namesake will be back to lead the charge, meaning Steven Yeun will be back to voice Mark/Invincible. Mark's family should also remain intact as well, with Sandra Oh expected to reprise her role as Mark's mom, Debbie Grayson. Meanwhile, J.K. Simmons should be back to voice Mark's ultra-powerful father, Nolan/Omni Man. Since he's formed an odd alliance with Mark and the other heroes, Cecil Stedman (Walton Goggins) should also be back.

Invincible is back with season 3, reuniting old characters and their cast while adding a whole host of new faces with familiar voice actors.

Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs) will also probably be back in the ensemble, and she's only just begun to repair her bond with Mark that was severed in the past. Christian Convery has assumed the role of Mark's younger brother, Oliver, in Invincible season 3, but it's unclear if he'll retain the role as the Viltrumite-Thraxan since the character is rapidly aging. A myriad of other heroes and villains will likely populate season 4's ensemble, but it's impossible to know exactly who until more details surface.

The presumptive cast of Invincible season 4 includes:

Because the events of season 3 haven't been fully revealed yet, it's not entirely clear what's to come in Invincible season 4. Mark is still learning what it means to be a hero in the wake of his father's betrayal, and he's formed a shaky alliance with Stedman. Clearly, season 3 is going to test that alliance, and the fallout could be the bulk of season 4's story. Meanwhile, Mark is still trying to repair his bond with Eve, and that might also extend into the next season too. Finally, Omni Man's path to redemption is still ongoing, and will probably be crucial to season 4's plot.
