Tony Stark's new the 'Improvised Iron Man' suit's power. In the volume of Iron Man from Marvel Comics, Tony Stark is getting a new kind of upgrade and taking on some of his most ambitious foes of all time.
Marvel recently shared a variant cover for Iron Man #1 from Philip Tan, showing Iron Man's new 'Improvised' suit glowing with power while surrounded by a mountain of Tony's other junked armors. The new suit is intended to be a constant work in progress, with Tony constantly upgrading its capabilities as he goes.
The new era of Iron Man will see Tony go up against an alliance of evil corporation Roxxon and terrorist group AIM, who are trying to seize control of his company Stark Unlimited. The volume will also introduce a mysterious new version of Tony's nemesis, the Iron Monger. Tan's image of the Improvised Iron Man standing triumphant among Tony's other suits paints it as a weapon of mass destruction that could total any of his previous armors.
Art for the new volume of Iron Man appears to show Tony wearing a Steampunk sword as part of his armor.

Iron Man's Asgardian Armor Makes Thor Look Like a Pushover
Iron Man's Asgardian armor is easily one of the most metal suits of armor Tony Stark has ever worn, so much so in fact that it puts Thor to shame.
Tony Stark's New Improvised Iron Man Armor Is a Hi-Tech Work in Progress
Iron Man Is Heading to War with His New Design
While Iron Man has had many dedicated suits over his long career, the latest volume will see him wearing some steampunk-style armor whose capabilities will be repeatedly upgraded. It's a smart move on Tony's part given the enemies he'll be facing. Advanced Idea Mechanics is a radical terrorist group which allows scientists to work without limitations, leading to a huge range of unexpected inventions and discoveries. If Tony was stuck with any singular suit, AIM would quickly build countermeasures, so an ever-changing Iron Man is the only version that is capable of going to war with two of the most powerful groups in Marvel canon.
The prior volume of Iron Man saw Tony laid low as rival billionaire Feilong stole his company and killed off his friends. The summary reveals that this experience gave Tony a new attitude, and that he'll be pursuing "brutal" methods against AIM and Roxxon.
Marvel's previous design page from Julius Ohta also reveals the towering Iron Monger. Formerly the codename of Obadiah Stane, the new volume will see a new pilot using the suit. Ohta's art also seems to show a steampunk sword on Tony's back, demonstrating just how different the Improvised armor is going to be from what came before. A new era of Iron Man is coming, and Tony Stark's new Improvised suit makes his prior armors look like a pile of junk.
Iron Man #1 is coming October 23 from Marvel Comics.
