Robert Downey Jr. promises a better gift than Captain America's shield for the boy who saved his sister's life. A few days ago, six-year-old Bridger's story took the internet by storm when it was shared by his aunt, Nicole Noel Walker. In an Instagram post, Walker explained how the boy shielded his little sister when a dog suddenly started charging in her direction, resulting in him being bitten multiple times and having to get more than 90 stitches. Since the story was publicized, Marvel actors have reached out to the kid after learning he's a big fan of the MCU.
In the original social media post by Walker, she tagged several actors from the franchise, hoping they'd learn about Bridger's incredible act of bravery. Spider-Man actor Tom Holland was the first to call the boy, followed by Chris Evans who sent a sweet video message cheering him on. The Captain America star also gifted the kid his character's shield to the boy's delight. Now, however, Downey, who brilliantly played Iron Man in the MCU, is claiming he will send Bridger an even better gift than Evans.
Downey's message to Bridger was shared online by Brandon Davis. The actor started by praising the boy for his heroic act, but upon learning that Evans is sending the kid a Captain America shield, he promised that he'll do him better. Although he has yet to reveal what that surprise gift is, Downey advised Bridger to call him when it's almost his birthday. Check out the whole clip below:
As Walker belatedly revealed on her social media, they just celebrated Bridger's birthday so it might be a while before they and the public find out what Downey's gift is. Knowing that he can't really just follow Evans' example and send a whole Iron Man suit to the kid, he might have to be a little more creative with his surprise. That being said, it's safe to say that by the time Bridger receives his gift, his aunt will share it online for everyone to enjoy.
While both Downey and Evans are technically out of the MCU after Avengers: Endgame, it's nice to see they remain committed to fans of Iron Man, Captain America, and the Avengers in general. Playing high profile heroes on the big screen comes with a responsibility to be good role models for their followers, especially young ones like Bridger. So even if they won't be playing their respective Marvel counterparts anymore, this proves that they will always be game to step back into that comic book movie world if that means giving back to the fans.
