Summary
- Iron Man vs. Magneto is a fight fans always want to see, but the outcome is not as clear-cut as expected.
- While Magneto has the upper hand with his magnetic powers, Iron Man has managed to hold his own in past fights.
- Iron Man's nightmares of facing Magneto show the true fear and threat the Master of Magnetism poses to him.
On the surface, one of the worst possible match ups in comic books would seem to be Magneto. After all, Magneto has absolute control over the entire magnetic spectrum, and Iron Man, as his name implies, often seems to be flying around in a suit made of iron. One artist recently showed off the dark outcome that everyone assumes would happen if these two fought.
Artist Iron Man vs. Magneto fight. This art showcases Magneto using his powers to crush Iron Man's iconic suit into nothing more than a square of scrap metal that he's able to easily toss aside. One can only hope that Tony wasn't in the suit when Magneto did this.
While readers might assume that Magneto would easily destroy Iron Man, Tony Stark has actually managed to put up a surprising fight in the past, and in their only real confrontation in comics, Tony Stark came out as the winner. So, while this fanart depicts the likely outcome of their fight, it hasn't actually come to yet.

Iron Man & Magneto's New Connection Permanently Rewrites Their Bond in Marvel Continuity
Iron Man and Magneto have faced off on more than one occasion, but the beef between these Marvel icons started based on their reputations alone.
Iron Man And Magneto Seem Like A Truly Terrible Combination
Magneto And Iron Man Have Had A Difficult Rivalry Over The Years
There's no denying that Iron Man is a genius, one of the most brilliant minds on Earth, but brilliance isn't always enough to win a fight. The few times Iron Man has gone up against Magneto, he's had to use everything he has just to hold his own. During their only major fight in AvX, Iron Man only wins because Magneto decides to surrender mid-fight. This decision is due to circumstances that are entirely unrelated to Iron Man, despite Tony truly trying to hit Magneto with everything he had. It's a completely hollow victory, and Iron Man knows it.
The most powerful thing Iron Man has, that he's known for, is easily crumpled and tossed aside by the Master of Magnetism.
While Iron Man is able to walk away the winner from their first fight, he knows it isn't a real victory. Tony Stark has even had nightmares of the day he might have to face off against a Magneto who isn't holding back. In Invincible Iron Man #17 by Gerry Duggan and Patrick Zircher, Iron Man has a nightmare of Magneto burying him alive inside of metal. This nightmare gives off the same sense of fear and dread that Bosslogic so expertly captures in the fanart of Magneto destroying Iron Man's iconic suit. The most powerful thing Iron Man has, that he's known for, is easily crumpled and tossed aside by the Master of Magnetism.
Iron Man Continually Has Nightmares Of Magneto
Iron Man Knows Magneto Could Kill Him
With so many different characters and varied powers in the Marvel Universe, it's not hard to imagine a fight between two characters where one is just hopelessly outmatched by the other. Magneto is one of the most powerful mutants alive and has regularly taken down other heavy-hitter Marvel characters like Wolverine. While Iron Man is by far one of the smartest people on the planet, that intelligence simply pales in comparison to the power Magneto has. While it hasn't been seen in the comics yet, fans know that if Iron Man and Magneto ever fought for real, there would be a clear winner.
